post any others...doesn't have to be a great song, although I think this track is...

One of the guys in my medical school class had the annoyingly self-important affectation of a pager (wearing a pager as a first-year medical student -- yeah). Some of the guys in the class (the sort of clown clique) thought they'd toy with the pager guy by paging him to 867-5309 repeatedly.
What really made the joke was that pager guy didn't get it, and would leave the anatomy table to go answer the page. I'd look around the lab and see the class clowns falling out at their table, while pager guy was washing his hands and going to the hall telephone.
Other songs:
"Sarah" (starship)
"Jessica" (Allman Brothers)
"Amanda" (Boston)
"Sweet Jane" (Velvet Underground, the one true version of the song IMHO)
"Hey Micky" (by whatshername)
" Dear Jessie" (Madonna)
and about four billion others I don't remember right now.

Let's try this again.

(by the way...considering that there aren't a ton of songs with a single name in the title, maybe it'd be nice to post only one so others can have a chance to post theirs)
yeah ,sounds fair... good call on that toto track btw, only recently got into them
Perhaps "Valerie" originally by The Zutons but this is the version by Any Winehouse and Mark Ronson.

I think the reason you couldn't find it is because the original was done by Them, not the Zombies. I can see why you'd think it was the Zombies (for all I know they did a cover version).
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uuY1umk4R8s
And Patti Smith's version is amazing!
Here's a few more:
"Alice", Tom Waits; "Alison", Elvis Costello; "Angie", The Rolling Stones; "Anna Lee", Sonia Dada; "Arlene", The Handsome Family; "Brandy (You're a Fine Girl)", Looking Glass; "Candy", Morphine; "Carmelita", Warren Zevon; "Cindy" (traditional), Johnny Cash & Nick Cave; "Delilah", Danny Barnes; "Diana", Skip Spence; "Elanor Rigby", The Beatles; "Georgia Lee", Tom Waits; "(Good Night) Irene", Leadbelly; "Jennifer Save Me", Golden Smog; "Julia", The Beatles; "Katie Mae", Lightnin' Hopkins; "Lisa Says", The Velvet Underground; "Lorraine", Freakwater; "Martha", Tom Waits, "Martha My Dear", The Beatles; "Ophelia", The Band; "Peg", Steely Dan; "Ruby's Arms", Tom Waits; "Sexy Sadie", The Beatles; "Sherry", The Four Seasons; "Stephanie Says", The Velvet Underground; "Sweet Virginia", The Rolling Stones; "Tania", Camper Van Beethoven
It's a great icebreaker when you first meet a girl if you can sing a few bars from a song featuring her name prominently.
"Shandi" by KISS (I want to name my first-born after this song, providing it's a girl)

"Kyrie" by Mr. Mister

"Jane" by Jefferson Starship
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=vIsiR43Zw5M
I used to listen to this song alot when I got blown off by a girl of the same name, who I was besotted with. I've noticed Jane is the most used name in rock songs, although I think this one may be the best.
"Vicki" by Arch Hall, Jr.
Hey, anyone else notice that not one single guy's name "in a song" has been mentioned?
I think we should stick to lady name songs, they're always awesome. :teddyr:
"Hannah" by House Of Love. I always liked that name, it's palindromic.
Ziggy Stardust!
"Daniel" by Elton John.
