I watched the first two episodes, pretty neat IMO, darn weird, but it really makes me forget it wasn't really made in the 30's. The Bearded Lady creeps me out, and I was startled to realize Adrian Barbeau was one of the actresses, she really fit into her role IMO.
I've seen about half the series. I thought it was imaginative and addictively interesting, moody and had a lot to say. I also think it was canceled in its prime, which was a crime.
What I read on it made it sound as if it were very far-sighted, like there was a convergence between the two story lines that doesn't happen until the second half of the six seasons that was planned. Bummer.
I saw most of the first season on HBO then we stopped paying for premium channels and I did not see any more of it. I really liked it though. It was very dark and surreal right up my alley. I had heard that it got canceled but I did not know if they had wrapped it up. It seemed like the convergence was still a ways off so I am sure that in did not get wrapped up, which is a shame.
I think that it was just a little to surreal for general consumption, which sadly does not translate into high ratings.

Yep, it creates pockets of hardcore fans, and little else, which is a shame.
