OK, as a leftie let me just say: I don't approve. I gather from what I'm reading about this incident that things involving the sole of the shoe are a big insult in Arab culture, but
   (a) Because he still holds the office of President, insults to Bush are still insults to the Office. I think showing the bare minimum of required courtesy would be more effective.
   (b) The shoes were actually flung at his head, not in his general direction. Stupid, stupid, stupid. This wasn't just an insulting act, it was a violent one that could have caused damage. I'm glad the Secret Service took the guy down. I don't think they would have been justified in using lethal force (they didn't), but we have to have zero tolerance to physical violence against people holding the office of POTUS. See (a).

It's actually a little disrespectful, but there is a site www.sockandawe.com (http://www.sockandawe.com)
which allows you to throw a shoe at Mr Bush's head.

I agree with Schmendrik.  I was ashamed of myself for laughing at the clip of BUSH dodging shoes; if it had been any other President, I would have been angry.   
As it is, I want to throw my shoes at him.
