QuoteEDIT: Dammit, I need to double check these things before I hit POST. The "want" should have been "what" and I left out a word. Think it's a symptom of some form of dyslexia or something that they haven't diagnosed yet...
I just, really, really don't know what to say on this one. So many movies have been called "bizarre" and "over the top" but I think this is one that definitely fits the bill. It's crazy, even for a Japanese animated film. One guy at the imdb called it a "...45 minute WTF moment" and I can't say I disagree.
That being said, to quote from the Onion, it's still, "hella f**king balls to the wall awesome!"
The plot is follows: Retro and Pandy wake up naked on earth with no memories as to who they are and how they got there. Needing clothes, food and other supplies, they go on a big crime spree/rampage through the city, culminating in a car chase to end all car chases. After a lot of carnage and destruction, the two are caught and sent off to Dead Leaves, a large prison housed on what's left of the moon. In prison the two eventually break free and start a huge revolt, only to come face to face with 666 and 777, the seemingly indestructible leaders of the prison guards, and, later, the warden herself, who seems to know Pandy from some point in their mutual past.
Just not sure how I can sum up just how insane this movie is. For starters, it's the perfect show for people with ADD. The picture does not stay still for any longer than I'd say two seconds, this makes MTV in the early 80s look slow paced by comparison. Seriously, you might want to skip this film if you have epilepsy.
The prison is just insane: prisoners wear straight jackets almost all the time, and, for various times during the day, hundreds of hooks come down, snag the back of the jackets and then wheel them around at break-neck speed like some sort of bizarre, futuristic meat factory. Among their fellow inmates is a Chinko Drill, a fellow with a giant drill for a phallus which occasionally leaks white fluid (no, I'm not making this up.)
The show is often crude (humor wise), very loud, and, admittedly, a bit empty plot-wise, it's a definite "style over substance" movie. Just when you think it can't get anymore crazy, something else really messed up happens. Probably the biggest "WTF" moment comes when Panda is saved by the unexpected appearance of a little visitor. (No, not gonna spoil that one.)
Anyway, I recommend everyone check it out!
If you have Netflix, you can watch it Instantly (which is what I did, although, I'm going to buy the DVD someday so I can listen to the director commentary, I'm REAL curious how he came up with all this.)

Whoa, definately seems worth a watch, even if the trailer hurt my eyes. :hot:
This was a crazy movie. I'm not into Anime like I used to be but this was great watch for anyone.
Wow. This looks messed up. I'll have to checking it out at some point.
