Since I started the egg thread, I figured I'd might as well add in potatoes. Generally I like mine a few different ways. The most common thing I do is cut up wedges and have baked steak fries. I also enjoy them mashed, fried in olive oil and baked whole. So how about you, how do you prefer your potatoes?
Mashed! :tongueout:
Baked, loaded with sauteed onions and mushrooms, steamed broccoli, topped with some spiced Havarti and sour creme.
Or hashed, baked in the oven with some of that cheap 'taco seasoning' on them (the stuff you add to the ground beef).
Hash Style and I've been told I make some of the best ones around.
Salt potatoes. Baby potatoes baked on a bed of salt.
Baked with cheese and/or coleslaw, roasted or in the form of chips/fries.
Boiled in a pot with other veggies with some salt sprinkled in for taste. Then mashed with margarine and milk, and as a topping I use a can of warmed green peas.
Mashed or au gratin.
Almost any way. I love potatoes! Though, I only do mashed if I have gravy.
When eating out, it's usually french fries, often with gravy. If I go to the trouble of peeling and cooking potatoes at home, I prefer to go all out and make fluffy mashed potatoes and gravy. Sometimes I'll roast up a couple of bulbs of garlic and whip that in with the spuds as well. Yummy.
I usually fix homemade scalloped garlic-potatos from a recipe my grandmother gave me years ago. I also like curly fries dipped in A1 sauce. My dad makes great fried potatoes; mine never seem to turn out as good as his and he usually fixes me some when i go and visit him. I also like mashed potatoes, potato skin appetizers and sometimes baked potatoes if i have lots of toppings to go on them. I remember when i was a kid my folks used to take me to a resteraunt that had a 'potato bar' where you could load up your baked potato with anything from chili to bacon bits, it was awesome.
About the only way i don't like potatoes is potato soup....yuck! My mom turned me off of potato soup when i was a kid; she's usually a great cook, but the soup is awful, its real watery and tastes mostly like celery. Whenever she prepares it i will joke her by asking if she is preparing potato broth... :teddyr:
I gotta say, I love ALL forms of potatoes. Mashed, baked, boiled, fried, chipped, flipped, however. It's very versatile, so to speak.

I eat a lot of potatoes and I didn't like when the Atkins crazed labeled them as the antichrist of foods. They're actually quite healthy on certain diets. Lucikly my grandfather in law has a potato farm and I can honestly say in a non-biased manner, they're the best I've ever had.
I'm huge potato fan. I like Hash, Tater Tots , French Fires with cheese, Mashed and Cut potatos with sliced hot dogs (Veggies Dogs for me)
Baked into Pickled Onion flavoued Monster Munch crisps.
