Keanu Reeves is being cast as Spike Spiegel in the live action version of my favorite anime, Cowboy Bebop.
I think Keanu would actally be a good Spike.
That's the story so far, but i haven't seen confirmation. I'll have to wait and see, but I think they could have cast someone better.
I'm sorry...
...it's true...

...according to KYGOTC anyway.
Aside from that, I think Keanu could be a good Spike. I think he would have some difficulty playing Ed, but it would be interesting to see how they handle that.
I was quite displeased to hear about this one myself. I just dont see him as Spike. I think the only way it will work (for me, anyway) is if they get a relatively unknown actor who really happens to fit the part.
I think the real litmus test for remaking anime properties is going to be the Dragonball movie. Speed Racer kind of flopped, although it wasnt as familiar with today's audiences. If Dragonball fails, then projects like Cowboy Bebop and Battle Angel Alita may be in jeopardy. Only time will tell.

Keanu Reeves is an anime character. He looks like one. He's two-dimensional like one. He even sounds badly dubbed.
Seriously, from what I've seen of Cowboy Bebop, Spike = Keanu.
