This has been bugging me for years.
I know the film had this child and I'm almost certain he was a robot. I definitly remember his 'dad' hiding him somewhere, perhaps in a cabin? and going out one day and when he returned he'd found that the kid had killed his cat.
I know I didn't dream this up, because my cousin remebers it too :teddyr: . Does anyone know what it could be?
 thanks
Hi, I'm pretty sure this is not your movie, but Demon Seed has a robot looking kid.
that looks an awful lot like the pichture in the cover of Starchild.

Could this be a memory of "Embryo" (1976). However, the kid is a girl who quickly grows to adulthood. Here is the IMDb entry:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0074475/
The other movie that jumps to mind with a wooden-acting child and cat is "Pet Sematary" (1989):

I second Pet Sematary, Andrew. I second it with a :teddyr: but also a :buggedout: as I have never recovered from the scares I got watching that.
"No fair Daddy......"
thanks for the suggestions, I checked them out but I don't think any of them are what I'm thinking of...

Can you remember what channel/time you saw it on?
Not to sidetrack the investigation but wasn't there a new Outer Limits episode that had a father rebuilding his dead son as a robot that goes something along those lines?
there is an episode of the twilight Zone (I think, my brother was always telling me about this, but I never saw it myself) where theree is a scientist who brings his son back as a robot, and in one scene that really freaked himn out, the robot was petting a cat and going "soft", but of course he couldn't really feel it, becasue he was a robot, and he had just mushed it into this gross cat-pulp.
Sound familar at all? It might not be from the twilgiht zone. I'll have to check.
It sounds like an outer limits episode to me as well, I believe the title was "Simon Says" check it out, might be the one.
-yah, here it is on youtube...cat scene starts at 3.34. Is this it?

It was out of limits, thanks everyone. I really thought it was a film, but at least it was real and not something i dreamed up :)
That Robot kid really freaked me out when I first saw it, mind you, I was pretty young...
Thanks for the help :teddyr:
hey, it still freaks me out. I think its the way he talks.
hm, yeah I suppose he is very freaky. He looks it too, with how he's only half built and all. But when I first saw it I must have been about six or seven (I only remembered about it all these years because it gave my nightmares for ages, hehe) but my aunt turned it off after he killed the cat, and, rewatching it I can see why he freaked me out a lot, but while he's still freaky, i'm the sort of person who's able to watch Saw and barly flinch... lol
:twirl: anyway, thanks again for all the help. I really don't know why this bothered me so much, but I'm so glad I finally know what it was
-my cousin still refuses to watch it though, and I thought he freaked me out the most lol.
I hate to necropost, but I just wanted to thank you for giving me the information to find Simon Says. I've been trying to figure out what this was, and like the OP, all I remembered was the scene where Simon kills the cat. Again, sorry to necropost.
