Two judges in Pennsylvania have been accused of tossing teens into two privately ran juvenile detention facilities for minor offenses in exchange for millions of dollars in kickbacks. Apparently
both judges in the case are suppose to plead guilty in federal court on Thursday to the charges. The investigation is still on going and no officials with the companies who run the facilities have been charged yet.

Memo to me:
Move out of London
Move to Pennsylvania
Become a judge.
Then live the sweet life
Those judges should have every dime they made taken from them, be incarcerated for the total of all the sentences they handed down in some nasty butt-rape prison, then killed on the day of their release. That is one of the most inexcusable things I've ever heard of, but I have little doubt that they will get away with a small fine and probation in the end. The reason things like this happen is because there is so little risk in the risk/reward equasion for people in that sort of position. Yea, that idiot Mark Ciavarella is going to lose his job, but the guy is 58, which means a) he probably was going to retire soon anyways, and b) that'll be a reason for the judge to go easy on him at sentencing. I'm willing to bet that most of what we read in the future about this is nothing but downplay.
As the Ohio capitol was being constructed in the nineteenth century, a scandal erupted when it was shown by leading newspapers that a suspiciously high number of stonemasons, plumbers and other sorts of skilled laborers were given hard time (and subsequently offered work detail on the capitol instead of prison) at just those points in the construction when plumbers, stonemasons, etc. "happened" to be most needed.
