Title: Long Weekend (1979)
Post by: lester1/2jr on March 26, 2009, 10:30:21 AM
This reminds me alot of William Blatty and is about as good as his "Sorcerer" if not "The Exorcist".  An estranged couple on a hideously awful (is there another kind? ) camping trip face the truth of their relationship as well as what seems to be a coordinated attack on the part of ALL OF NATURE.  We've all had days when everything seems to be going against us, but how often does it involve Sea Cows?  So they are in some real hot water for sure at a camp ground you can only find....in the Twilight Zone.    5/5

no doubt, this is one of my favourite films ever. top 25 at least. real tension all the way through it and the ending is raw....

I was kind of p**sed it got alot of  bad reviews at netflix.   It's alot better than a typical animals attack horror movie not that I don't like those.

I've noticed there were some reallly good movie sin the 70's that kind of phoned in some quasi-disaster movie, quasi conspiracy movie  elements to get people to see them.  Like I just watched "Brubaker" starring robert redford where he is this prison warden trying to reform a prison.  but they had to add a thing abuot the state covering up some big secret.  not that it ruins the movie but it's kind of besides the point.
