I was going to post this in the Good Movies section because, personally, I like most of Tom Cruise's films.
But I know that there are some of you out there who completely despise him and any movie he's ever made, so I posted it here in the Bad Movies section.

I deliberately avoided adding any films where he wasn't in a lead role.
(The Outsiders...Taps, etc...)
I'd have to say my favorite Tom Cruise film is a toss-up between Minority Report, Jerry Maguire and Eyes Wide Shut.
Overall, I'd have to go with Jerry Maguire.
Yes, I know that some of you will gag upon reading that, but I think he was great in that film.
How can you go wrong with, "I'm your motherf***er! SHOW ME THE MONEY!!!" :teddyr:
Minority Report runs a close second.
What about you?
What's your favorite Tom Cruise film?
I went with Magnolia although I think he's good in any role that requires him to be a cocky, smug manipulative jerk. He's kind of a more intense Affleck I guess. I'm not just saying that because I don't like him. I think he's really talented in portraying that type of person. Also, Top Gun was just too gay for me. The volley ball scene alone... :buggedout:
I went with Top Gun, I'm a sucker for Kenny Loggins, jets and goofy 80's romances. :teddyr:
Otherwise, I woulda gone with the "I hate Tom Cruise, why won't he die!?" option.
Saying that though, I've always thought "Rain Man" and "Born On The 4th Of July" were his best films.
I actually enjoyed quite a few of those films although not necessarily because Tom is in them - in fact it's probably in spite of him being in them.
My pick was Interview With The Vampire. I like vampire films. In fact, I like this one in spite of Kirsten Dunst too.
I went with MAGNOLIA too, just because he was so unexpectedly good in it. It's a very good movie as well, very un-Tom Cruise-ish.
Though he's generally picked a lot of losers, RISKY BUSINESS, MINORITY REPORT and JERRY MAGUIRE were all good, though I wouldn't say he stole the show in any of them.
I went with Interview. It was honestly one of the few times he acted well in a movie. I'd second Born On The 4th.
Personally, I don't like ANY of his movies. He's not at the point that "I Hope He'll Die", but I won't watch any of his movies.
I can TOLERATE The Outsiders, but he's not the main character, and I really liked the book, so that gets a pass.
I went for MI:III
The Firm is good too, though.
I went with RAIN MAN...mostly because of Dustin Hoffman, though.
Top Gun - it's a good cheesy '80s flick.
I went with Tom Cruise Must Die cause what I felt was his best role was not listed. It was his role along side Timothy Hutton, George C. Scott, and Sean Penn in the movie Taps. It was made in 1981 and showed that the three young stars had potential talent for dramatic roles. Granted my vote could be considered a spoiler as to what happens to his character in the film.
I have generally liked the Tom Cruise movies I've seen, but then I haven't chosen to see 2/3 of your list. Of the ones you listed, I suppose it's kind of a tossup between RAIN MAN and MINORITY REPORT. I thought TAPS was fun too, but as you said you left it off your list because he wasn't a lead.
Tom Cruise's top front teeth do not line up properly with his mouth.

I'm certainly no dentite-elitist, but having a touch of OCD that's the only thing I see when I try to watch his movies. It's a symmetry thing.
My loss, probably. :bluesad:
Why does he smile like he's savaging a young antelope??
the only one of his movies that i like is LEGEND
tom cruise has to save the magic forest from the evil dark lord who wants to take away all the sunshine
Huh. I was sure I liked some of his earlier movies, but looking at that list, I'm actually surprised at how few I did like. I guess Top Gun would be my favourite, basically for the same reasons already mentioned: jets, 80s cheese factor, soundtrack, etc. Add also that it had a pretty solid cast in addition to Cruise, I'm a sucker for action films from the Cold War era, and Kelly McGillis was at her hottest. And who doesn't enjoy a grouchy authority figure played by James Tolkan?
But I'd be tempted to vote for Losin' It if it was on the list.
Who in the name of jeff voted for War Of The Worlds! :buggedout:
I went with Eyes Wide Shut. Not for Cruise's performance per se, but because the movie rocks. And that little smile that Lelee Sobieski (sp?) gives Cruise when she's standing behind him is one of the most erotic things I've ever seen in a movie. Yes, I am a perv. :drink:
