Title: I saw about 10 seconds of "Aliens vs Humans"
Post by: ghouck on April 19, 2009, 12:38:02 PM
Or maybe it was "Humans vs Aliens". Either way, in that 10 seconds, I saw the typical bad-movie scene where someone vigorously ranted about how there were no such thing as aliens, which was punctuated by them being attacked from behind and eaten by the exact aliens they were denying the existence of. I heard the rant, said "She'll die within seconds, and she did". Kinda eerie.

I did that with Wicked Little Things.  There's a scene where four teenagers are in a car out in the middle of nowhere and it doesn't start.

I said: the driver will get out.   He did.

I said: he's going to go missing for a few seconds, leaving his girlfriend to call out to him thinking something may have happened to him.  It happened.

I said: it's going to turn out to be a joke, and he's going to spring out into the window and scare her.  He did.

I said: she's going to curse him, then he's going to get pulled away again and she's going to say it isn't funny.  It happened.

I said: it'll turn out this time he's really being killed by the zombie children.  Yep, that happened, too.

I guess we've just seen enough of these movies that when someone cranks out a genre exercise we can practically write them.  I've seen that scenario used in far too many horror movies, and the one you described as well.

I think it's an extra sense that fans of the genre acquire when they watch too many of these films.
