Title: Bizarre Gift Ideas
Post by: Ash on April 19, 2009, 04:28:39 PM
There are a lot of weird inventions out there.
Some can even be given as gifts.

For example:  What do you buy for a woman who's afraid to walk to her car at night in a creepy underground parking garage?

The RapeX!

Yes, it's a device that a woman wears inside herself to prevent that pesky rapist from having his way with her.
Apparently, it's filled with tiny barbs that hook into a rapist's penis.  Once they hook into him, the only way it can be removed is if he goes to the hospital.  When he withdraws from the woman, the RapeX comes out, too...still attached to him.  :buggedout:
Then he must seek medical attention immediately.  This also helps to identify the rapist.

It looks like it's made of plastic, but it's actually made of thick latex.  The barbs inside it are razor sharp plastic.

All joking aside, I think this is a good invention for women.  Women have a lot more to fear than us guys, especially sexual assault.
On the FAQ of the RapeX official website, critics claim the device is midieval.  The inventor countered by saying that rape itself is midieval.  A midieval punishment for a midieval deed.

How about you?
Know of any bizarre gift ideas?

Ash, as appealing it is to imagine exacting retribution on rapists, that device is such a bad idea in soooo many ways it is beyond scary.

And here I thought you would be angling for unique birthday presents...

Hey some women out there I've met are screwed in the head.  Can you say "I've been framed" regarding that device?

Eh, a miner makes sure the roof is supported before he barrels on in.  Moral is; check the hole first...  :tongueout:

He also brings a canary to warn about noxious gasses.  Hmmm...

Seems my mind has gone off onto a bit of a tangent.

You could get this as a gift for a computer lover.
Why anyone would want it is beyond me, though.   :tongueout:

Or how about a pair of laser guided scissors?

I would actually like a pair of these.  Whenever I wrap presents, I always end up cutting the wrapping paper wrong.  These would definitely come in handy!
