The Goonies.... Twenty years later....
It has the original cast... But it's also about the original Goonie's children....
WHY?!
I like the Goonies, but a TWO?!
YOU DECIDE!
Good Or Bad?
I think it's a 98% bad idea. I say that because, well, it's so long after the original that quite frankly, why bother. Granted, most of the kids have disappeared, save for Feldman, Sean Astin and Brolin. But, the guy who played Sloth is dead, Mama Fratelli is dead.
But there's that other 2% of me that wants to see what they'll do.
We can only hope that Cyndi Lauper sings the theme song . . .
Train Wreck
BAAAAAAADD!!!!! :bluesad:

Okay, am I the only person who thought the original was the most annoying 80's "classic" on the planet? When it came to the end, I looked at the person who was so enthusiastic about me watching it and said, "I'm not letting you pick movies again."
So, a sequel? Only if we get to see some of the cast die. Otherwise, no.

Though I'm not a Goonies h8er myself, I found a quite entertaining review on IMDb from someone who is X)
QuoteWell I have been prepared to see kids movie. Most of the viewers seem to be happy with this move but I just keep to wonder why. It is very chaotic, hardly funny and quite abusive I have to say. But the worst part is it is actually very boring movie. From start to the end there is just sequence of screaming, did the viewers who mentioned their childhood memories keep their youth with never ending shouting like "UAAAAAAA!!!" "IIIIIIIIII!!!" "NOOOOOOOO!!!!" "UAHAAAAAAA!" "WE GOT IT!!!" "NOOOOOOO!" "HEEEEEELP!!!" "WHAAAAATS THAAAAAT?!" et cerera et cerera. Everyone in the movie is just plain silly - children, parents, police, everyone. The only exception are banditos who are simply brain dead. Its stupid, its just stupid. It's disgusting, literally two hours walk in sewage filled with sewage humor. I'm very happy I've seen this movie on TV and pay nothing for this most unpleasant experience. I'm really happy I have not bought it because I would be very angry because of money wasted.
Only if Chunk comes back and he's morbidly obese! That'd be cool!

I guess there's a ton of us... :)
Although I think any film (Except Spacehunter) thats staring characters from the brat pack is more annoying then Goonies...

I'm sorry, I think the Goonies is a wonderful kid's adventure film.
No way this can be real.... how the hell did it get under the radar for so long?
I was raised up watching Gamera, Johnny Socko, Escape to Witch Mountain, Land of the Lost TV Series, etc...
Goonies seemed like a mess because there were too many annoying characters talking over each other at the sametime and screaming at every little thing.
How are they gonna dry out Corey Feldman in time? And isn't that kid who played Data dead? And isn't Martha Plimpton a dude now? Craaaazeeee!

Perhaps if I watched this when I was a kid...but I don't ever remember being an baby goat, so I'd probably still would have disliked it.
Well, it did have an upskirt shot of the cheerleader :teddyr:

True Dat....
I liked the movie when I was a kid. I saw it in the theater when it came out. I still watch it today. But it is one of
those movies that should
not have a sequel to it. This is one of the movies that was good by itself. I will admit, that the ending was kind of stupid. I mean there is a pirate ship with lots of treasure and you just let it sail away? How weird are you?
My two point five cents.

The end of the Goonies always makes me cry...
Well, I saw it when I was younger. Even then I still didn't get what all the fuss was about, just like today. It did produce nice video game versions though, with one in the arcades, and a Goonies 2 NES game.
I wonder if this Goonies 2 will have the totally random Annie The Mermaid like the game version... :tongueout:
I really loved the Goonies, classic 80's from my child hood, But in no way do I want to see a part 2 I don't even want to see a remake. Two of the actors are dead, two have gotten better careers, well maybe not so much Sean Ashtin I think his Lord of the ring claim to fame is just about up. And Cory Feldmen is a born again christian and no longer does drugs, wears the fun in that. Nope only thing going for this movie is nostalgia, and I got the dvd of the first one. Im happy with that.
It's been rumored for years and years, but as of now, it isn't happening.

Quote29 April 2009
Exclusive: The Goonies Talk Sequel
Never say never. Or die.
You may not have realised, but March 17, 2009, was an historic day. It was on that day in Hollywood, California, that all of The Goonies, including director Richard Donner and producer Steven Spielberg, were reunited for the first time in over 20 years* to have their photo taken for Empire's 20th birthday issue.
Naturally, whenever one or more Goonies are gathered together, they're always asked about a sequel, and this time was no different. Here's a little taste of what they had to say.
Richard Donner: "We tried for a long time. Steven and I had many meetings with writers but nothing stuck. It seemed disrespectful."
Corey Feldman: "So I guess the answer about the sequel is that there's always hope."
Donner: "No. No hope."
Sean Astin: "A year from now, ten years from now, 50 years from now, I'm absolutely convinced there'll be one. We'll figure it out. A sequel could be great. It could be s**tty. You never know. But the original is the thing it is and no-one can ever change it."
