I agree with you there RC.
Bottle Rocket was awful.
I constantly hear people talk about how they loved it so much. I thought it was a piece of crap.
Where's ENTER THE DRAGON???? No male child should NOT see ENTER THE DRAGON!!!
No DEBBIE DOES DALLAS?
No GODZILLA movies??? ACK!!! I-I-I'm having a brain hemmoroid ! :buggedout:
Seriously folks...there were a
few good ones....but if it was up to
me...
MAN MOVIES-
1.The GOOD the BAD and the UGLY (they DID have this one...would be unthinkable if they didn't
2.DESTROY ALL MONSTERS-the BEST rubber monster city destroying monster fest of ALL TIME. All time.
3. The TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE-Watch it with a girl...guarenteed to make her grab you and not let go!
Then you make yer move...
4.the EXORCIST-See above.
5. APOCALYPSYE NOW-Makes you wanna do acid and go insane...in Cambodia. Should be an Army recruitment film for psychos with a death wish.
6. KING KONG (1933) the First monster/adventure/blockbuster. One of the coolest films ever.
7. The WILD ANGELS-Peter Fonda,Bruce Dern, bikers, booze, bikes, pot, violence!!! And fast bongo music!
8.The GAUNTLET-Clint Eastwood hooks up a Greyhound bus into an armour plated vehicle while !00's of cops unload on it! Too tuff!
9.ENTER THE DRAGON-I was doing goofy Kung Fu sh!t for a week after seeing this back in 1980 on Showtime. Hell...I still walk around doing goofy kung fu sh!t.
10. TORA! TORA! TORA! -Sure the first half is kinda talky...but once the Japs hit Pearl Harbor-non-stop destrution! When me and my brother Mike used to take our bikes down a real steep dirt-road hill...that was our battle cry-"TORA!TORA!TORA!" Good times.

Most of that list was garbage. I wouldn't watch about half of the movies on it.
That's becuze yer a MAN...not some wussy flunky hired to write a 'user freindly' list! F#cking lemmings. I would like to stick Fulci's GATES OF HELL in their face...and put tooth picks to keep their eyes open-like in CLOCKWORK ORANGE-better yet?-MANOS. Take that! Myha!

Edit: Did I mention the 3 STOOGES?? That,my freinds...is the true test of your man..ugh....maness. All men like the Stooges. If you don't...you may be a girl.Wearing a skirt and playing hopscotch.
I liked the inclusion of Hud, Slapshot and The Conversation, all of which I really like. I also really like The Hustler, but I understand that the list already had a lot of Paul Newman movies.
I can't believe the The Warriors and First Blood made the list. I tried to watch the Warriors a few years ago, after loving it as a kid, and was stunned at how ridiculous it is. It might be ok for a list of s**tty movies that hold some sort of nostalgia value for children of the 70s, but really that is a really stupid movie. And First Blood sharing a list with the Godfather?? Really?? Kidding right?
Also, and I know I may get slated for this, but I hate Blazing Saddles! Well, all Mel Brooks really. I know a lot of people love those movies, but I find them completely obvious and not at all funny. I'll never get the appeal.
Gee, I've only seen 27 of those, and there are several that I wouldn't watch on a bet. I agree with most of RC's list more than that one. And the list should have included more Bogart. Waaaaay more Bogart. And as for the John Wayne flicks, you've got to have The Cowboys to make sure we know that real men can cry. It is good to see Shakes the Clown get some recognition, as I'm sure many, many people have never heard of it.
Hotspur, I'm no great fan of Mel Brooks either. Blazing Saddles is one of the more watchable of his movies, but, like you, I don't find many of them overly funny.
I can't believe they included "Do the Right Thing". That movie sucked, I put it on my list of 10 movies I avoid like the plague. To me it came off as a movie that just generalized about racism. How dumb.
I expected "The Dirty Dozen" to be on there.
Lists are good. Lists are interesting.
Seen 25 out of the 75.
Liked 19 out of the 25.
Do the math.
Seen 33%.
Liked 76%.
Well, that was easy.
I I remember correctly I've only seen 20 some of those films. Though I wouldn't recommend that every man should see some of those, I mean Lawrence of Arabia was way too long for it's own good at times.

I've heard it said that Lawrence of Arabia is one of the most definitive of the "you really need to see it in theatres" films. I can't really say, but if a theatre ever projected it in its original 70MM glory (does anybody do that anymore? Other than blown up IMAX, I've never seen a feature film in 70MM...), I'd be interested to see it again. There were a lot of spectacle shots that really didn't have the power they probably did on the big screen.
As is though, I really have to agree with you. Felt overlong and I was disappointed overall.
Well I want to see 12 Angry Men, The Warriors, The Maltese Falcon, and Blade Runner really bad. They look really good. The sad thing is that I've seen about only 3 or 4 of all the movies on the list.
debatable list; no GOODFELLAS, THE GRADUATE, or DELIVERANCE, but yes CADDYSHACK.
seen 22/75 of those films
That list is more a list of fun-guy-action movies to see than anything else.
