It's only this site !
It's only started happening in the last week or two.
Why is it freezing ?
Can you explain "freezing" a bit more? I understand you mean your browser stops.
Does your browser load the page, then freeze? Are you able to do anything else when it is frozen? Are there any pages that do/do not freeze? Does it happen every time or is it sporadic? What browser are you using?
Please try loading these different pages and let me know if you experience anything different between them:

What I've noticed in the past week or two is the forum pages freezing slightly.
When I'm done looking at a forum page, I'll click the back button to go back to the previous page.
It will "freeze" on the page I was reading. But if I scroll my mouse wheel, the page unfreezes and loads the previous page.
It also sometimes does this if I'm going forward to a new page.
Does that make sense?
It doesn't do it on any of the review pages or the homepage. Only here on this forum.

I get that too.
> this has happened to me as well. page freezing then unable to even close the window, had to restart windows. only on this forum.
happened a few times last week but seems fine now... assumed it was just my comp.
Yikes, I knew it was cold in South Africa but I didn't realize that this cold snap would lead to this site freezing....................oh, never mind...
If you are only seeing it on the forum, and it also happens when you hit the back button, then there are two possibilities. The most likely is that it is being caused by an advertisement misbehaving, since there are ads that only run on the forum. The other is that the forum is causing the delay, because of either some scripting trick in the code or even the database being really busy.
Still, the most likely cause would be an advertisement. I'll see if there's anything I can track down via that route.
It happens to me a lot too and I'd vote for the ads. Simply because the page loads find but then you get the swirly thing in the ad spots before it locks.
Starting this week. Its happening to me too, but I have to kill the browser window.

The site is really killing IE 50% of the tuime, both on my hoem and work comps
Well nuts. I actually made changes about 3 or 4 days ago that I hoped would help the issue - and still no good? Does it happen only on the forum? I ask, because knowing if it happens just here or elsewhere on the site can help me pin down what is causing the issue.
forum only, and only on the initial screen. http://www.badmovies.org/forum/index.php
Just locks right up

site froze on me earlier today, big time. had to restart my pc
- just logged back in to let you know, Andrew. not sure what this is...
I made some more changes. This is definitely being difficult to track down, and I'm concerned that it might have something to do with the forum software update that came out - the timeline for when I installed that and when the problems seemed to start is very close.
This time it was in a thread. Its really frustrating.
I just made another major change to see if maybe it helps the freezing issue. Sorry I've been so scarce lately, but I've been putting in 80 hour work weeks.
Don't sweat it man. You do have a life. The change SEEMS to help, we'll se how it goes.

Stable so far on two computers
Seems like a heartening sign!
I got a Microsoft update and I now have this torn page icon by the refresh icon, after I've clicked on it I haven't had any problems with this site.

That's "compatability mode", it makes the browser revert from acting like IE 8 to IE 7. It might be a coincidence though, since Andrew made other changes to the site.
Glad to see this wasnt just my laptop
haven't had any freezes for a while now. how about other people? think it could be okay now maybe

Yep, it's all good from where I am.
Of all things, I think that this was actually caused by a bit of bad code leftover from a forum upgrade. Glad that finding and removing that seemed to do the trick (and that the problem code snippet wasn't buried way deep in one of the files).
