Title: Random Movie Question
Post by: skully13 on June 01, 2009, 05:02:21 PM
Is the Curious Case of Benjamin Button any good or at least worth viewing?

Be prepared for a very long, slow movie.  It's ok to watch once.  Feel free to go get popcorn or go the bathroom during his affair with Tilda Swinton or during the part when he visits Daisy in New York (right after his Dad dies).

I pretty much agree with Akira.  It's too long in parts; entire characters and gtheir scenes could have been cut out (the pygmy).  It's still interesting, but you won't be missing too much if you decide to skip it.  I'd give it 3.5/5.

I thought it was very good.  Long, but I never found it to be boring.

Interesting movie, long, but watchable to the end. That being said, it is not the kind of film you want to watch again though

Taste is a fickle mistress -

Myself and the wife both liked it well enough, and I think I'd probably enjoy it more the second time around, much as I did "Australia", as you do tend to focus on some parts to the detriment of others.

That said, I don't know what your taste in longer films is -- Ever see "Zhivago" or something similar?  This is no David Lean film, but if you're willing to give longer films a try, you may be pleasantly surprised.
