Just thought of another list that might be fun.
How many of our songs can we come up with - 1970s or later - that pay homage to the music of the 50s. That is, any popular song that you enjoy, written and performed more than a decade after the end of the 50s that borrows some of that classic rock and roll style. Limit yourselves to one song per post. Don't worry about numbering.
I'll start us off with Frank Zappa, Be In My Video.

The Longest Time, a pretty impressive doo-wop song, considering Billy Joel recorded all of the backup vocals as well as the lead.
Since YouTube's much-despised filtering system prevents the embedding of the original, here's one of the many fine covers to be found...

I recall the Ramones apeearing on the Sha Na Na show in the seventies!
Good call RCMerchant. Ramones, the Cramps and the Misfits all pay homage to '50s-'60s rock. I grew up listening to my parents Do-wop, Elvis, Buddy Holly, all that good stuff and so these bands really struck a chord with me. Still some of my favorite music.
