I don't remember much about this movie, but hopefully it's enough. I believe it's a teen movie from the 80's. It's about a teenage boy being helped by the spirit of his dead father (relative or they could be completely unrelated). That's all I can recall.

Could this be THE HEAVENLY KID aka TEEN ANGEL (1985)? The dad was killed in the '50s and comes back in the '80s as an angel to help his son out.
