For the love of god WHY!?
Anyone seen it?
I heard about it in like 2005 or 2006, couldn't imagine them ever going through with it.
So the question is, what's the smallest amount of potential earnings it takes for someone to say, "Hey, I think I'll make a sequel of that!"

Maybe nobody told them MST3K was cancelled. :teddyr:
It's true.

Well, if you're interested, it just so happens that Andrew has an interview with the director, Rick Sloane, where they discuss the sequel.

I saw it on PPV. Used a free ticket thing I have, so it didn't cost me anything. Thank God.
It's as awful as you'd expect. There are a few moments of entertainment to be had with it. My favorite aspect of the film is how incredibly old school it is. With the exception of a couple really bad CG sequences that stick out like a sore thumb, the film looks and feels like a straight-to-video 80s release. This is because of some old school looking actors and very traditional and staid lighting, makeup, and cinematography (the film favors locked tripod shots, and doesn't mess around with tons of crazy zooms and handheld stuff like most newer DTV stuff). If you like that kind of stuff, it's probably worth a watch.
BTW, I haven't seen the original film, but from screen shots it appears the hobgoblin puppets are exactly the same ones in the sequel. I think the director confirmed that in the interview with Andrew. Kind of funny.
If I was going to rate it as a "real" film... I'd give it a 2/10, and I think I'm being generous. It had a few genuine laughs, and was competently shot for the most part. But it's just.. Bad. Bad acting, incoherent storytelling, ridiculous writing, etc. Rating it for the bad movie fan... I'd probably give it a 5/10, maybe a 6/10 if you really like 80s style films.
Haven't watched it before, but I figured it couldn't be worse than the original. Guess I got another movie to add to the list to watch and review. sigh...

I have to wonder, do movies that are purposely made to look bad like Hobgoblins 2 qualify as so-bad-they're-good? Or is the definition broad already?

Yes, I'm sad to say I've seen it. As a fan of the first one, I had high expectaions, only to be let down. :bluesad:
It didn't have the wit, the cheesiness or the fun that the first one had. What a letdown.
Maybe he was bored? :bouncegiggle:
