Title: Robot Holocaust (1986)
Post by: DowntownDrunk on July 06, 2009, 06:22:46 PM
Has anyone seen Robot Holocaust?

I saw it a few months back on the MGM channel.
The story is bad.
The acting is horrid.
The special effects are subpar.
The outdoor/indoor shots give the appearance that the movie producers just don't care.
Wait... The whole movie gives the appearance that the movie producers just don't care.
However, I did find it entertaining.

Anyone else see it?

Incidentally I just watched it a couple of nights ago, it was ON DEMAND in the free movie section. This film is glorious in its badness, even the most inept of the rest of the '80s post-apocalypse films cannot touch this one for sheer crudity.

Between the unintelligible German chick, the killer sock puppets and the terrifying battle with a single giant spider leg sticking out from behind a wall, not to mention a post-apocalyptic wasteland with mowed grass, I love this movie. It's also one of the great examples of video cover art that bears no resemblance whatsoever to the movie inside.

Hehe and the main character's name is Neo... :)

I'd seen this movie back in the 1980's it was one of those early films pushed stright to video, although I do remember the ads saying something like "Too gory for the silver screen" or something in that manner. In reality it was 'too junky for the silver screen'

I think within 6 months a ton of movies started going straight to video and I realized (at that time) those moves are just crap films... :)

That cover reminds me Andy of "Warriors of the Wind" the American version of Miyazaki's fine animated film Nausicaa. The cover art for the VHS is only tangibly related, and rightfully confused me the first time I watched it back then. I kept waiting for a guy on a pegasus to show up  :teddyr: Of course even dubbed and chopped up it was a good film despite the misleading cover.

I've seen the Mystery Science Verison of it, if that counts.  It was awful.

I've heard about this, I would really not be expecting Nausicaa behind that.

I know, now if it could only get released in a MST set.

i saw this piece of crap the other day too. it was so fricken entertaining in its badness that i watched it twice. the acting was just god awful, especially that german chick, she really stood out didnt she? i couldnt quite put my finger on it but she sounded like a complete bimbo or she was just really really bored. she did give us a topless scene though, but it was one of the most WTF moments of the movie. the pleasure machine? where did those naked dancing people come from? this is one those movies i could watch over and over again, on demand needs to show more movies like this!
