Maybe Armstrong and Aldrin could celebrate by actually "going" to the moon. :teddyr:
Don't tell me you believe it was faked!!!

I have doubts over the first moon landing, but believe the other missions landed there. I always thought that it was just to make sure the US out-did the Russians in the space race. Plus, NASA have enough money and clout to have covered it up for so many years. There's been many mysterious deaths surrounding people involved and missing blueprints of the original shuttle.
I like being awkward tho'...

You'd think the Russians would have said something, as they were the people best capable of detecting deception at the time, and monitored the entire trip as best they could. The other question being how NASA got so much fresh moon rock if it was fake. But hey.
Personally, I think the idea of a 55 pound moon pie is incredibly disgusting. Those thing are just blaaaaaaaah.
The conspiracy theories about the moon landings have been debunked again and again, most recently on MYTHBUSTERS . . . .
my favorite related story was from about 10 years ago, when one of the more obnoxious conspiracy geeks started pestering Buzz Aldrin at a book signing, asking Buzz to "come clean" and quit lying to people.
Aldrin, aged 72 at the time, cold-cocked the guy with one punch.
Don't mess with elderly astronauts!

And here it is... the guy Aldrin decked is one of the biggest proponents of these theories having made around 4 films on the subject. Did we fake the moon landing? Its possible, but I find it far easier to accept that we did go there than there being a huge cover-up involving thousands of people. The budget for NASA then was large, but that would still be a lot of hush money. I would think that we would be getting an overwhelming amount of death bed confessions.

Exactly. It would be what my favorite radio talk show host, Mark Davis, calls "the secret too big to keep."

Well, not just that, but the jerk was accusing him of being a liar and a coward. There was a time not too long ago when words like that would have gotten your ass challenged to a duel!

Cool! I am an admirer of
BUZZ ALDRIN and that tubalard deserved that. He certainly proved he's no "coward".
edit: I'd bet that NASA's budget began to shrink each year immediately after the Moon Landing.
Whoap, here 'tis:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NASA_Budget (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NASA_Budget) In fact the highest percentage of the Federal budget annually funding NASA was 5.5% in 1966, well before the Moon Landing.
I can't stop watching that clip, check out this version:

:bouncegiggle:  Here's to all the astronauts.
My understanding was that the guy was following Buzz all around the country harassing him.
