After being here for a while, people seem to have been going through many avatars/icons. My question is, why do you guys chose the icons that you have and what are they from? My avatar is of Keitaro from Love Hina and I have him as my avatar because he seems strangely similiar to me in many ways.
Bats are my favourite animal.
For the moment I enjoy Seagal's cheezy goodness.
I will probably change mine often. Right now its christian bale from the machinist. I love christian bale and this picture always freaks me out.
The one I'm using now I found some time ago on the internet. No idea who made it and what it stands for. I grabbed it cause I liked it
I don't change Avatars very often. I've been a member at another forum for eight years and only changed avatars twice. I do have an animated bouncing pumpkin I use only in October though.

I feel...so...used :bluesad:
Mine is Melissa Moore from the movie Sorority House Massacre 2: Nighty Nightmare. It's one of my favorite slashers - though I highly suggest you be on at least your second or third beer before watching it, it loses a great deal of its charm if watched sober. I might change it some day, I dunno. I find it very disconcerting when people change their avatars after they've had the same one for a long time.

Mine is a mosasaur skull that I dug several years ago. It is something unique to me, so I don't think I'll change it anytime soon.
Hey it's two of my favorite things, Stooges and Trek!

Dont tell anyone but up until a few days ago I was a moderator on another site. of course I dont post there now, I plan on saving all my charm for this place. :buggedout:
the ones I use is made by Chris hallbeck (creator of the book of biff (http://www.thebookofbiff.com)) that he created one per day in [insert the month that halloween is in here] last year.
MIne is Simon's Cat, from the series of web cartoons by the same name.

My main choice is 1) interest to me and 2) fitting the size requirements, something I fail to do when I find a good avatar.

I always use a pic of Bela Lugosi...though I change it like my underwaer.
This post will be outdated within a few weeks but I'd Buy That For A Dollar is one of the greatest lines ever in any movie. I have no clue what the show is about in Robocop but I'd watch it every week if it were.
It's from "The Phantom from Space".
Out of the few that I've tried, & many others I've considered, I still find this one to be most indicative of my character.
(Albeit, it's probably high time I did something about that caption.)
My avatar is a picture of me, taken at a film pioneer honouring ceremony in June 2008. If you can ignore the second hand underpants (which you thankfully cannot see :buggedout:) I don't actually look too bad in a tuxedo, I think.
My avatar is a drawing I did one day while just dorking around. I kinda liked it, so I used it.
I've always used MING, because I'll mean, evil and a ass... right RC?
Since I'm The Burgomaster, I chose Burgermeister Meisterburger (I know, I'm a Burgomaster and he's a Burgermeister, but what the heck). I'll probably eventually change mine to a picture of one of the Burgomaster's from a Hammer film (I'd really like to use the Burgomaster from THE EVIL OF FRANKENSTEIN). But I need to find a good picture online first.
It's some sort of tentacle-eyeball monster that changes color. I think it might be from a video game. I found it as someone else's avatar on Livejournal.

I believe it is Shuma-Gorath. It's a Marvel Comics character that appears in the Dr. Strange comics. He's also appeared in numerous video games, like Marvel Super-heroes and Marvel vs. Capcom.
I change mine up a bit. Originally, I think I had Jason from Jason X. Then it was a character from Year Without a Santa Claus.
Recently, I rewatched Howard the Ducks after not having seen it for years. Fell in love with it again.
Originally I had a head on a stake, but Since I got bored of that I switched over to a picture of a British Tommy helmet on a stake, Knowing me I'll probably be back to having a head on a stake by the end of the week.

Leeeeeeaning! Leeeeeaning! Leeeeeaning on the Everlasting Arms!!
I've taken to using photos of my daughter acting like a chip off the old block. The first had her wearing a Jasonesque hockey mask at Halloween. The second and current of these is her sitting at the controls of a full-size, flyable replica of the Silver Dart, the first plane to fly in the British Commonwealth. I'm thinking of changing it to a shot of Ro wearing my welding goggles.
My new one is a picture of me that's been stylized using the live trace feature on my copy of Adobe Illustrator. The quote is from Aqua Team Hunger Force.
My avatar is one of the default avatars that Andrew made available. It's the Brain from Planet Arous. As far as I know, nobody else has picked it for their picture. It's a pretty good avatar for me; I'm almost exclusively intellect at the best of times (with a slightly sinister twinge).
By now, I can't picture this page without seeing that brain picture in the corner.

Add to that (for me): and thinking of one funky-looking tabby that I would
not want to mess with.

yeah, i need to get in touch with you. I'm going to get a tatt of his portrait soon, but am looking for some better pics than what i have.
anyways, my icon is me. i started using it awhile back when i kept getting asked what i look like in other forums. sometimes i change back and forth to a pic of a girl with her head in the oven. i guess it depends on how my personality is going at the moment.
Mine is pretty random, but seems to run with either pictures of myself or b-movie monsters. Ones I've used:
Destoroyah with my face superimposed over his
My own drunken mug sitting in a bar
Plesiosaur throwing up from Legend of Dinosaurs and Monster Birds
South Park-ized version of myself
Snowbeast (current)
My Avatar is Death from the "Sandman" comics by Neil Gaiman. I always like the idea of Death being a cute goth girl with a postive outlook on life.
The avatar I am currently using as of this posting is one I found on the web that made me laugh. I always felt like it was a pic of some dude walking into a bathroom and discovering that someone had not flushed. It was not until I had started using it that someone asked where I got it and another member here pointed out it is from the Italian version of Spiderman.
OH OK! Thats where thats guy from LOL ... Thanks for the info meQal.

Oh my gosh I love Italian Spiderman so much I think my butt's going to explode!!
My avatar is me doin' what I do.
That picture is why we all like you so much, Paquita!
In the past, my avatars have been:
+ The sign to Nilbog.
+ A picture of a Shrieker from Tremors 2 (Andrew picked my review, so I used an avatar of the movie).
+ Pete from Eight Legged Freaks shooting a spider (Same thing like the Shrieker)
+ Itchy from Dick Tracey (I enjoyed the movie so much that I used one of my favorite villian icons)
Out of curiousity, does anyone know what is up with Andrew's avatar? I am curious at what it is. It was one of the reasons I started the Avatar Topic.

My god, I am so jealous of your hubby.
Me and some friends were driving around one night, bored, just goofing off, and somehow we worked ourselves into photo-taking frenzy, and we just all over the place to different stores taking pictures of ourselves doing stupid stuff. Seems that happens quite often actually. Anyway, we were driving past the local mall, which used to have a small, 4-screen multiplex inside. The place went out of business years ago, but it was such a formative part of my childhood (I practically grew up in that theater) that I decided I wanted to get a picture with the sign, which is still up to this day... for no good reason. Anyway, we took the picture, and it's since become a picture I've kind of fallen in love with. Me and the big ol' "CINEMA" sign with the run-down, cracked old letters and everything. To me, it just kind of sums me up (at least, I think it does)... hence, my avatar.
Mine is a picture I took of my ceramic rabbit with a skeleton finger puppet on its head. Previously I was using an Edward Gorey character called Figbash, and I think I had an R-Type one before that.

Aw thanks! And this isn't even the "say something nice about the person who just posted" thread!
The picture is one of my favorite "B" movie characters, originally it was still, then Andrew was kind enough to furnish an animated version of the big guy so now I use that. The words are from one of my favorite scenes in "Pulp Fiction".
The best *parties* are in the *middle*. Can you *smell* my "level* now? I am a *happy camper*!

It's an Orz from "Star Control II," which are probably the most confusing beings in the universe. If you ever talk to an Orz, just remember that you don't want to be *dancing* with them.

I can't remember why this appealed to me but my avatar is the "Flash Gordon" logo inside the Obama campaign symbol. I also changed the colors on the campaign symbol. I was probably just bored.
Mine is Death from Dellamorte Dellamore, thought it was cool?
Mines a drawing from the comic "Johnny The Homicidal Maniac"-- this was a poster on Squee's bedroom wall!
Harryhaussen Rules! :teddyr:
