Do you have a favorite(s) Vincent Price movie? If so why? Maybe a favorite appearance?
My favorites, random order ...
* House on Haunted Hill (1959) I love this one, not as creepy as 1999 ver. but just very well done.
* The Hilarious House of Frightenstein (70's tv show) Just found out about it 3 years ago, fun stuff.
* The Haunted Palace (1963) The music, also his wife in the movie was very beautiful, had Lon Chaney Jr.
* The Last Man on Earth (1964) Waaaay better then Will Smith's I Am Legend IMO.
* Pit and the Pendulum (1961) Everything about this movie - well done, great movie. had Barbara Steele.
* Twice-Told Tales (1963) I like the tale of the youth drink ... creepy ending.
* Tales of Terror (1962) I like the tale of the cat ... Vince makes me laugh in this one.
* Michael Jackson's Thriller (voice) Just brilliant, really makes the song.
Is The Bat (1959) any good? I found this below, and I can't wait to see it.

Any you like to recommend?
I'm torn:
Theatre of Blood - There's just something about that scene where he disguises himself as a gay hairdresser
I Go Pogo - There's just something about hearing that voice used in a slow-talking southern character.
The abominable Dr. Phibes. The way he kills is awesome
The Haunted Palace and The Pit and the Pendulum are my favorites. Classic Price.
'Theatre of Blood' for me.
Fall Of The House Of Usher (1960)
Love his "hearing" continuity errors... :teddyr:
I have a tie on this one:
Theater Of Blood and Witchfinder General
Theater Of Blood is an utter hoot to watch and you can see him having fun with his role.
Witchfinder General has him at his most depraved and evil. If this had been the first movie I'd ever seen him in, I would have hated him as he did too good of a job of making himself unlikeable.
That's a really tough question. Vincent Price is always so entertaining, and he was an extremely good actor. I love the way he portrayed the slightly off-kilter scientist in "The Tingler." "House on Haunted Hill" is another one of my favorites. He was so great at playing subtly deranged characters, and William Castle really worked well with Vincent. I also love his performances in "The Mad Magician," the Dr. Phibes movies, and "Theatre of Blood." The list goes on and on.
The Fly and the Dr. Phibes movies are amazing. also The Last Man on Earth is a great movie which was the first film made for the I Am Legend book. House on Haunted Hill was great. and, The Great Mouse Detective he voiced Ratigan and it was brilliant.
I love ALL his movies! But my top would be the Phibes films! There just so inventive !
Vincent Price was a great actor who had a lot of fun with the roles he was given good or bad. The Corman Poe films in particular had the right amount of gothic atmosphere, and frights. Here are a few of my favorite Price films:
Fall of the House of Usher - nice use of color and a unique look for Vincent
Masque of the Red Death - another one that uses color well.
The House of Wax - This is one of my all time favorites, and an early role for Charles Bronson too. That the blind in one eye director Andre de Toth could not even see the 3-D effects in his film was even more astounding.
The Tingler - Another William Castle fright-fest with a goofy monster, but who cares? Also wasn't this the 1st film to depict LSD use?
Some great ones to choose from. I'd like to suggest COMEDY OF TERRORS: it's not the greatest movie (although it's far from terrible) but Price's performance as the arrogant undertaker drumming up business for himself is supremely nasty and hilarious!
Unfortunately the trailer emphasized the ensemble cast and doesn't do Price's performance justice. He really dominates the others and is the center of the film.

I'll go with THEATRE OF BLOOD, HOUSE OF WAX, and ABOMINABLE DR. PHIBES.
"The Conqueror Worm" AKA "Witchfinder General" was the one I watched often as a kid. He played the character so well. I hated the character (like you're supposed to) but really enjoyed his acting.
Lots of Theatre of Blood I see, I'm going to have to check it out then.
I just got done with The Bat. I really liked it, it had a good twist. It's a mystery not horror though.
I have to be honest and say I don't have a favorite because I can't pick on over another of his films. They are all great films and I will watch anything he was in. I even watch the Brady Bunch episode he was in whenever it comes on. I'll even watch the Thriller video just because of his voice over work. You can't really go wrong with anything Vincent Price is in.
The Fly and House on Haunted Hill both come to mind, but my personal favourite has to be The Raven (1963) with Boris Karloff and Peter Lorre. What a romp. His cameos in The House of Frightenstein also delight me no end - Vincent Price could be so deliciously funny, intelligent and evil at the same time. I remember as a child I was instantly fond of him, regardless of role. Still am.
Price was a diverse actor-few remember his comedic turns in CHAMPAGENE for CEASER and the BARON of ARIZONa in the early 50's. His RAVEN costar Karloff drowned him in a cask of wine in 1939-TOWER of LONDON.
Heres a nice tribute to Vinnie I found while trying (unsuccsesfully) to find a clip of the 1939 version of TOWER OF LONDON. Vinnie played the role of Richard the 3rd in the 60's remake!

I've Seen A Bunch Of His Movies , And Every One Of Them Was Great
It Would Be Impossible For Me To Pick A Favorite!
All that I have seen so far.
There are several I like, but the Phibes movies are what I think of when I hear his name.
Like so many others, he made so many films with so many fine actors, that I can't pick just one.
Opinion?
THE TINGLER!! - Superb transition from LSD freakout to calm scientist -
Nobody here has mentioned DRAGONWYK - Dragonwyk is a great little period piece set in the 1800's - Price's character, born of a proud family, goes slowly insane as times change & the final scene - wherein he has reverted to his ancestry of the 1600's - where he sits in his regal chair in the middle of a dirt road, at night, asking for "Tribute . . . tribute . . ." from the shocked passers-by is a great scene from any movie -
I'm amazed that more people don't remember "Dragonwyk" these days -
peter johnson/denny drangonwyk
Gotta jump on the THEATER OF BLOOD bandwagon, just an all around fun film.
HOUSE OF WAX is also good cheesy fun. And I love Charles Bronson as an "Igor" character. I don't think he speaks during the film.
Just checked the IMDB listing. The name of Bronson's "Igor" character is... Igor! Astonishingly creative!
Peter Johnson: I remember DRAGONWYCK and in fact had been talking with my brother about this film just a few weeks ago.
My own favorite movie VP role was as the Invisible Man in ABBOTT & COSTELLO MEET FRANKENSTEIN
Couldn't find a clip; this will have to do:

I love ABBOTT & COSTELLO MEET FRANKENSTEIN!
Vincent Price is the Invisible Man, but only in the last 2 mins of the movie. I wish he had a major part in it.
