Title: Tourist Trap (1979)
Post by: D-Man on August 14, 2009, 12:41:37 AM
You may recall a post I put in our "What Was That Film?" section a few years ago, where I was asking about a scene I remembered from my childhood, which showed a young man being bombarded by flying cabinet objects while a little demon-thing cackled evilly.

Well, it was solved, and I wasn't notified about it for some odd reason, but just now I found the clip itself.  It's from a movie called Tourist Trap.  I have no clue still what the hell this movie is about, but this scene still weirded me out after watching it.   :bouncegiggle:

I have this DVD.  It's about a group of people who stop at a roadside store or motel or something operated by Chuck Connors.  There are several killing, mannequins that come to life, and other things that don't make much sense.

TOURIST TRAP is,in my humble opinion-one of the BEST horror films of the 70's. In Stephan King's book Danse Macabre-he also cites it as a favorite. So yer in good company. "YOUR WORLD IS DARK NOW.." Yikes!

I'm surprised by how many people like this movie.  It's okay . . . and has a few individual scenes that are decent and memorable.  But I found it to be often laughable and several parts made me just say, "Huh?" and scratch my head.

That sounds like a bad-movie endorsement to me!  I'll have to check this one out.

I bought the DVD a few months back.  Some of the mannequin scenes are genuinely creepy and Chuck Conners is pretty creepy himself.  This is definitely more enjoyable than some other (more famous) horror flicks. "

why the subsequent downgrade? not to put you on spot here

This is actually on my review queue! Gotta love the rise in popularity of the telekinetic movies after Carrie!

I remember this movie from when I was little and watched the Movie Channel when it was in its infancy. It has a bizarre soundtrack and yes, a lot of headscratching moments.

Uh . . . I was only 43 years old when I wrote that . . . I'm more mature now.  Uh . . . the above quote was taken out of context.  Uh . . . someone else must have swiped my log-in information and posted that comment.  Uh . . . I must have confused this with a different movie called TOURIST TRAP.  Uh . . .  :teddyr:

It sucks to get caught red-handed with a "flippity-floppity" opinion.  Never put anything in writing!!!!
