I put this in the player thinking it was Silent Night, Deadly Night, and I believed it was for the first 30 minutes.
It seems that the creators of Deadly Night really went out on a limb to make their movie a near look a like to a movie made 10 years previously.
Anyways the story was interesting enough that I kept from picking up the remote.
An attorney is hired to stay in an old mansion that has been left as it is empty for reasons unclear. And when the attorney brings his girlfriend with him (instead of his wife) they get mangled by an axe murderer. The murderer then makes some disturbing phone calls homage to Black Christmas, the cops and town representatives are then involved, and the spaghetti hits the fan.
It then becomes clear who the killer is, way too early in the film. We experience some 10 minute long sepia tone flash back telling that the place used to house an insane asylum with your host, Doctor something or another, and so his daughter is assaulted by one of the inmates (I think) and dies in childbirth. Now you find that the killer is the son of the chick who got raped, and he is finding revenge for whatever reason.
This was on the Mill Creek Chilling Classics 50 pack and the sound quality was down right ugly, I only caught the gist of the story.
Anyways, this may be worth putting on your lists thou it doesn't obtain anything really moving. Just another slasher flick. And the trailer is cooler than the movie itself.

EDIT: I take back the comment about it being a look alike to Deadly Night; Deadly Night is much more creative than this movie.

This one is a personal favorite of mine. I sat down to watch it one night with a mindset that I just had to wade through all of these movies in the 50 movies set and I might as well start with this one.
What a nice surprise! It starts out moving in one direction and just when you feel you are on the verge of throwing up your hands and saying "Nothing is gonna happen!" you get a sudden shocking murder. The story twists a bit and picks up a little speed. It is twisted and sordid and I can't remember exactly what went on at the end but when I started putting things together, I kept thinking, "With this subject matter, this thing will never get remade."
Not great, but definitely worth looking at and very very weird. This is one of those films I wish Code Red would dig up a completely uncut version of. I'd happily buy it.
And of course, you get Mary Woronov when she was younger and smoking hot.
I remember the eye gouguging scene quite vividly. I really enjoyed this movie.
Hm I didn't really get much out of this. It's what I expected, but it is pretty well for a 50 pack stinker.

This film is a bit of a mess, and there are at least two cuts floating around 'cause I know I saw a much more graphic murder of the lawyer on late night television back in the '70s (the good old days of Horror movie broadcasting for this type of box office flop). I sat thru this much more recently, also from a 50 movie pack, found it confusing, but still quite atmospheric.
I like Mary Wornov. Not much else. It's a fairly interesting oddity,at most.
I watched it's dual feature PANIC tonight, which is quite the most boring monster movie I've seen. I had to start practicing my guitar for it to move faster.
