This isn't really a trouble ticket, more a question... is there a new time limit on modifying one's posts on the forums? I've noticed I can't go back and edit the typos in some of my posts that are a day or so old, but I can on new ones that I just made.
Just curious.
If so, guess this means I'll have to take a bit more time to proofread. Got this problem though when I type for some reason odd words just occasionally seem to jump out of my fingers. It's probably some form of disorder they haven't ID on me yet...
:)
60 minutes. It is another one of the changes I made to discourage spammers. Turns out that one of their tactics is to make a post, wait a while for it to drop off the new posts radar, then go back and edit the post to add their spam.

Ahhh okay, makes sense. Course now everyone will know what a terrible typist I am...

I actually bumped this up to a week after spending some hours looking through a manual SQL query I made to identify possible spam edits. It might get removed again, though I will be sentencing myself to manually checking every post modified through each month to spot spam edits - the sunny side of doing that is that I can craft the query to ignore people we trust who do a lot of edits (Ash *cough* *cough*).

Mentioned it before in another post but I'll mention it again in case Andrew misses it---is it possible to limit the modify post function to "Bad Movie Lover" or higher?

I'm willing to try it. That is now active.
I'll be glad when I can edit posts. I get stiffness and numbness in my fingers due to pinched nerve in my neck at times and it makes my typing suck.
But YOU try typing when it feels like your fingers are "asleep"....

I made a change that should allow any registered user to edit their post for the 1st hour after making it. That shouldn't allow a spammer to abuse the system easily, but should help if somebody notices something they want to fix after posting.
 So with this change, I can no longer go back and modify the Fame or Shame Game lists??...I just tried doing it with the Pro Wrestling one but there's no longer a modify post button.

Jase,
Nuts, that is an unfortunate problem caused by me making that change. I'll return it to how it was before. My apologies.
Thanks Andrew!! :teddyr:
It's too bad however that you can't use that as a deterrent for spammers. :hatred:
I guess we could repost the updated lists every time but I think that the thread would get too heavy and long that way. Perhaps there's another way to allow only certain people to modify posts (i.e. those who update the Halls, moderate on the board, etc.) ???
