Ok, in the good movies thread we talk about our missed oppurtunties in the theater. How about movies you did show up for but felt you wasted your time seeing.
Big one for me was Titanic. I honestly would have walked out if I didn't want to see how they would pull off the boat sinking special effects wise. I think I wanted to see something else that day but skipped out on it.
Others for me include...Sweet Home Alabama (the wife dragged me), The Mask, American Pie 2, Batman And Robin. Theres more but those are the first I can think of.
Off the top of my head:
Event Horizon
Body of Evidence
I went with my brothers to see Billy Madison. I left early partly because I had to p**s, partly because it was so damn awful. There was still like 20 minutes of the movie left but I didn't go back.

No prob. Holy freakin' God, it was bad. If you were a grade-schooler or your cranial mass was the equivalent of boiled spinach, then it might be up your alley.
Bats~ We walked out
Shadowlands~ It may sound awful but my husband and I were actually saying to each other I wish she would hurry up and die already! It was so long and boring.
Pokemon~ My daughter who was 4 at the time wanted to see this and it was a huge mistake. There is a part where you think Ash dies and Pikachu is doing his Pikachu thing and crying and all of a sudden my daughter jumps up and yells, I hate this stupid movie! and runs out of the theater. We didnt go back in and finish it.
Starsky and Hutch.
:bluesad:
Monster In Law
The Wedding Date
The Wedding Planner
Star Trek: The Undiscovered Country
Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace
George Of The Jungle
Batman & Robin
Sex & The City
The Flintstones
Casper
Wow, this thread has really reminded me that I've been to the cinema alot more times than I had thought!

Hey, I was only 5 years old. My mom took me to see (have no idea why!?), but it was soooo boring. Just people in red sweater uniform talking, then those same people out in the snow, with rags on.....talking! Arrgh!

This is one I lump into the "did I see that in the theater or not" file. I hope I didn't.
FREDDY GOT FINGERED
I never wanted to just get up & leave during a movie - but I should've with that one.
DUNE (yawn)
Sweeney Todd
Heartbeat Detector. Saw it as part of a film festival. Terrible, and offensive, film.
Not a name, but a number.
Having nothing better to do with my time, for the past 45 years, I have kept track of all the films, excluding only G-rated films, I've seen in a theater. As of this post, the number comes to 743 films. Of those, I disliked 276 of 'em, or 37.1467%. Those are the ones that I wish I had not seen in a theater.
I AM LEGEND :hatred:
That was more depressing than FOR THE LOVE OF BENJI.
House of 1000 Corpses :bluesad:.
The 1998 version of "Lost In Space".
Step Brothers, Will Ferrell just isn't funny. The only reason I didn't walk out was because I was with friends. Also Semi-Pro, that was terrible. At least I can understand why people found Step Brothers funny, but with Semi-Pro, I have no idea where the humor is.
I regret ever giving Will Ferrell my money. :hatred:
Dracula: Dead And Loving It. My ex and I almost walked out.
"Neighbors" with Belushi and Ackroyd. I'm not joking when I say I already knew the payoff to every joke in the movie. They were all given away in the TV promos.
Bean was painful.
The recent Friday The 13th remake was really, really bad.
I really disliked First Knight. The fact that I don't like Richard Gere didn't help.
That Dungeon Siege flick from Crap Meister General Uwe Boll(his official title), god what a waste of money
Kill Bill.
I would give anything not to have seen that movie. Anything.
The Blair Witch and The Ring.
I actually enjoyed both of these movies and found myself getting into both of them (most movies I can't muster even a little bit of suspense for), but the audience in both were awful! :hatred:
In Blair Witch, the dude next to me answered his phone and had a conversation and people kept yelling out during the movie. During The Ring, for starters, a couple teenages sitting behind me got drunk and the girlfriend kept grumbling about not knowing what was going on and how her boyfriend promised to take her shopping. And a couple of jerks who had seen it already and were there again with a group of friends kept screaming out before things happened (in very fake, girly screams and "I can't look!" cries).
So I wish I hadn't seen these in the theater cause I would have enjoyed them more in the comfort of my own home.
Wallstreet (1987)
I actually went to the multiplex that day to watch Fatal Attraction but it was sold out. The only other movie playing at the same time that still had (plenty of) tickets left was Wallstreet. I didn't care about the praise it got, I still thought it was boring as hell. To make matters worse I could hear the Fatal Attraction audience reaction through the wall next to me. They were having a blast, I was stuck in boring blah hell.
The Lost World: Jurassic Park
I actually walked out of the theater and got a refund cause it was so bad. i swear who ever wrote that script read the Cliff Notes on the first half of the book then winged the rest by watching Carnasaur.
Hardly anyone I know didn't like Kill Bill. Damn, I thought it was stupid. Fortunately I only got ripped off with the cost of a DVD rental.
I saw Timerider a long time ago at the theater and spent half my time in the arcade because the movie was so painfully dull.
Urban Legends was really hard to sit through as well. I didn't get up and leave but I nearly dozed off.
JURASSIC PARK. Yes, the original. I felt like kicking to death everyone involved with the film, except Jeff Goldblum. He just doesn't know any better.

I would say THE FIRST WIVES' CLUB but I fell asleep about ten minutes into it and had myself a lovely nap.

I used to regret seeing JAWS: THE REVENGE at the theater, but now I find it gives me a good amount of bragging rights around here.
Twilight. I walked out when Edward went glittery in the sunlight.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull--ugh!! Too much CGI.It was predictable.I knew Shia's character was Indy's son and knew Indy and Karen were going to get married.I remember saying to someone years ago when I read they were going to make a 4th one,I said,"I bet his son is going to be in this one because they had his father in the 3rd one"and sure enough,it happened!! Then,to top it all off, there were aliens???!!! I prefer the first one and the 3rd one,but was bored watching the 4th one. And,now, there are talks of a 5th one?? Is Indy going to be using a walker in this one? These sequels are getting like the Lethal Weapon and Friday the 13th sequels-pointless,predictable and silly..I WANT MY MONEY BACK DAMMIT!!!! :hatred:
I saw some stupid Scooby-Doo movie a few years ago when visiting family in Ohio. I could feel myself rotting inside.
National Lampoon's Senoir Trip
The Waterboy
1492: Conquest of Paradise
Eyes Wide Shut
The Blair Witch Project
Man on the Moon
The first three I should have walked out on and demanded my money back (the comedies were awful and completely unfunny whle 1492 had its moments and sometimes looked great, it proved a bore for the most part)...the last three weren't as enjoyable as they should have been because a large portion of the rest of the audience hated them, some were actively heckling, and many were walking out interrupting one's viewing.

Absolutely agree.. worst film I've seen in a LONG time. I almost wanted to stick pins under my skin so I could concentrate on a lesser kind of pain.
Clifford (1993) - Martin Short as a bratty 10-12 year-old.
What the hell was I thinking?
-TGWD
Chariots of Fire. Quite possibly the biggest waste of time I've ever encountered, , and that's coming from a State Worker.
Batman And Robin, Hollow Man, Final Fantasy Spirits Within, (1999) House On Haunted Hill, (1999) The Haunting, American Werewolf In Paris, Transformers 1 & 2, X-Men & Blade Trilogy.

Jurassic Park is one of my favorite movie-going experiences ever! Different strokes for different folks, I guess.
My biggest regrets in the theater have been
New York Minute and
The Cat and the Hat. These were tech-screenings at the theater I was an usher at and I know I got paid for
New York Minute, but I would pay to erase the memory of both.
The Lizzie McGuire Movie (for my sister's birthday)
Spice World (My mom took me and my older brother to see this. I don't think I will ever understand that decision.)
The Jimmy Neutron Movie (I let my sister choose what to watch.)
The first Scooby-Doo movie (It was just plain horrible)
Clockstoppers

I'm not mad at you mrgb46 but I wish you had not said that. I've only seen about the first half of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, but it was a gift to me so I feel I should finish it. Oh well, maybe knowing the bad news will make it easier to bear. Only time will tell...
the last one i can remember (because i dont see movies in theater too offten now) is indiana jones and the crystal skull, i knew once i heard george lucas was involved aliens were gunna be too,but i went anyways because it was just a hunch, and was my hunch right D:. it just ruined it for me, aliens + indiana jones doesnt mix! not to mention for me, it was all predictable, the fridge when the bomb went off? yeah i so saw that comin lol

Frank Miller? I blame the writers and director. It just had a weird vibe, weird feel and was devoid of any depth. Yes, much more of a focus on action, but that left the characters unevolved and unlikable to me. Plus, why the hell was Robocop purple?

Oh, man, I wouldn't want to have been around you when you saw Robocop 3 !!
:teddyr:
Two isn't too bad but it's so underdeveloped.
It has lots of plot threads but none, apart from fighting Kane, get resolved. And it'a a real pity.
Terrible movie theater movies include
The Mod Squad (90's Version) - Am I supposed to be rooting for or against these losers who can get into secret clubs but still have to beg their momies for money and apples?
For Love of the game - Kevin Costner cries like a little girl over some chick that treats him like garbage, yes that is the highlight of this movie.
Eight Legged Freaks - I will forgive the production of a terrible movie if it has gratitous nudity or gore. This one had neither, just CGI spiders eating a small town.
I think that covers it for now, I did see Indy Jones kingdom of crystal skull and thought it was ok, not spectacular but then again whenever you have a sequel made decades after the originals expectations shouldn't be too high.
Ok, I have to say something here. I LIKED Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of The Crystal Skull. I didn't love it, but I liked it. Yes, I know. Gasp in horror and criticize my taste in movies all you want. I like ALL the Indy movies, including Temple of Doom.
Frankly, I think the people who criticize Temple of Doom and Crystal Skull are people who take Indy WAY too seriously, and want him to do the same exact thing over and over again. Anything that isn't exactly like Raiders of The Lost Ark seems to be automatically torn to pieces, except for the Last Crusade, which I have to say was rather dull in some spots, Sean Connery notwithstanding.
Indy is a character that I can see getting into so many kinds of situations within reason. I thought the whole alien thing was handled nicely within the context of the film. I was entertained by the fridge gag, silliness aside, though I will concede that the scene with Mutt and the Monkey's was a bit stupid. But again, I thought Mutt was a good character, who has been unfairly treated by a lot of nit-picky Indy fans/ "Raiders" purists IMO.
Maybe this the age of a man born in the 80's talking, but moviegoers are nothing like what they were before. Some of them, I think, have no imagination, no inclination to suspend disbelief whatsoever, and want everything to be "gritty" and "realistic" now. In this environment, Indy was doomed from the start of ANY future movie he could have been in.
Anyway, back on topic...
I wished to god I hadn't wasted a perfectly good free pass on Van Damme's "The Quest" all those years ago...I was sick at the time, so I probably wasn't thinking straight.
Dumb and Dumberer and the Friday the 13th remake.
the later was without a shadow af a doubt the WORST THEATER EXPERIENCE of my ENTIRE LIFE.
infact, after the movie was over, a big roit broke out in the main lobby. not kidding. Now, Whether or not it had anything to do with the FT13TH movie, I don't know, but it's worth mentioning.

I know, I meant Walon Green, Edward Neumeier, Michael Miner & Irvin Kershner. To me they are much more at fault for the bulk of the plot, execution of scenes, dialogue and character development of which there was none.

You know what I hate worse in the theaters than women who bring screaming babies? Morons who forget to shut their cell phones off during the movie. I remember one time when I was watching a movie and there was a teen boy next to me who kept getting calls on his cell phone. I was missing most of the film because of it. So you want to know what I did? You really want to know? The next time the cell phone ran, I grabbed it out of his pocket, threw it on the floor and stomped it to oblivion with the heel of my cowboy boot. Safe to say he wasn't too pleased with that, but the rest of the theater watchers were.
Fast & Furious (the fourth one) really bad CGI

Cry Freedom: bunch of anti-South African crap.
Cape Fear (1992) - the sight of Robert DeNiro's character biting the cheek off the lawyer's receptionist and breaking her arm was really messed up. I actually felt mildly sick and lightheaded. Should not have seen that in the cinema.
The Descendants (2011) - the most illogical and awful plot, horrific ukelele music, and spastic editing. I wish I'd never seen that movie at all, let alone waste ticket money to see it in the cinema.
I can't think of too many others that I wish I hadn't seen in the theatre, but those stand out. I avoid horror/gore movies in the cinema, but on very rare occasions I'm caught out.
Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers.
