Title: How about a Goofs message board?
Post by: Trevor on November 04, 2009, 06:40:23 AM
Not like MovieMistakes.com where if you post a goof that is obviously one and people pull the ring out of you because they don't agree with you, but simply one like this:

Hot Fuzz: In the car chase, the police car's knocked off door appears and disappears in various shots.  :teddyr:

I love spotting goofs.

Space Mutiny - one of the characters gets killed, but she's alive and well in the next scene.

Commando - One of many goofs, when Arnie drives away Sully's crashed car, the side mysteriously repairs itself.

I am embarrassed to admit that I personally know the producers and the director of that film.  :buggedout:

My favourite goof of all time: the stormtrooper dinging his head on the door frame in Star Wars. Couldn't he see where he was going?  :bouncegiggle:

In Killers From Space, when a friend of the main character's name (which escapes me) he exits from the passenger side, but in the next shot, it appears that he exited from the driver side! :teddyr: my most personal favorite goof of all.
in plan 9 (oh God), other than famous mic boom, the seats and controls are made from cardboard.

Ermmm.... Krakatoa is west of Java.  :twirl:

Well, if you start at Krakatoa and head east . . . and go all the way around the world . . . you'll end up in Java.  (Sorry, I'm clutching at straws here).

One that bugs me every time I see it is during the wedding scene in THE GODFATHER.  Al Pacino and Diane Keaton are sitting at a table talking and every time the camera angle changes, the level of wine in their glasses goes up or down.  Where the hell was the continuity person?

Also, in THE GREAT ESCAPE, Donald Pleasence goes into the tunnel wearing dark colored socks and comes out the other end wearing light colored socks.  It might make sense the other way around (assuming his socks got dirty in the tunnel).  Do you suppose he stopped in the middle of the tunnel to change his socks?

In Cobra (1986), throughout the entire supermarket scene, a cameraman and a boom are reflected in Cobretti's aviators.

In Lethal Weapon Danny Glover is driving the car while he and Mel have a conversation, as they switch back and forth on the closeups you can tell the car is obviously being towed because every time they come back to Glover the steering wheel and shifter changes positions, sometimes the shifter is actually in the Park position.

At the end of my reviewed film BLUE EYES OF THE BROKEN DOLL a crew member is seen walking by in the mirror as the doctor visits his daughter's corpse in the bed.  Apart from that the film wasn't poorly made in a technical sense, but it still sucked.

My favourite goof is probably one of the biggest goofs ever; the entire film Manos: The Hands of Fate.

For real though, probably the dipping boom mic in the beginning of Rocky Horror.

There's a scene in HUMANOIDS FROM THE DEEP when a character (I can't remember which one, help me out here!) gets blood on his shirt.  A few seconds later, he still has blood on his shirt, but it's in a completely different pattern.

In the Universal B-horror film HORROR ISLAND (1941) when the cast walks into the haunted house a very visible crewman in on the right holding a spotlight on them. He follows them with the light as they walk across the set and then clicks it off and walk off camera!

Hey Burgo,
What about the day-for-night-then back to day again crap when Vic Morrow and his goons went to set fire to the house?  I thought that was pretty unforgivable.

The character you're thinking of was probably the young friend of Johnny Eagle, who was attacked but not killed by the humanoids.  His girlfriend drove off a bridge when a humanoid jumped on her truck.

The TV show Dark Shadows is an absolute gold mine for this stuff.  It was a daily show, and they didn't have the time to reshoot every scene where something got screwed up.  One of my favorite flubs is when a crew member apparently knocks something over off-camera.  It makes a huge noise, but the actors manage to carry on without missing a beat.   You can occasionally see the head of a crewmember dart across the bottom of a scene, or a cast member wander into the closing credits.  In one scene there's a cat sitting on a footstool, and you can see someone's hands holding the cat in place.  One time a werewolf was attacking somebody, but the camera pulled back a bit too far and you could see the "grass" they were standing on was just some carpeting.  I think you could see the overhead lights in that scene as well.  Oh, and all the times somebody would bump into a tree and almost knock it over.  And shadows from boom mic's on the walls.  Hundreds of them.

It's a good part of the fun of watching the show  :teddyr:

In The Muppet Movie, Fozzie gets some ice cream that magically changes color between scenes.

The original Halloween has a running goof that distracts me now when I watch it. The two houses where the girls are babysitting. Outside the houses, the front doors open from one side, but when you see the doors open INSIDE the house, they open from the opposite side. BOTH houses!!!!!!!!!  Whomever was doing continuity for that movie should be slapped. Still, great movie.

Titantic: The Animated Musical

In one scene, a guy named Gaston is leaving out the door of the cabin and a split second later, he is back in the room 10 feet away from the door.

Monster A Go-Go!

When one character is telling Ruth about finding that capsule in the middle of the field, he gets a call saying that the capsule was just found.

Yes, despite its goofs, the original "Dark Shadows" was a great TV series, and I enjoyed it immensely. But, isn't that the show where one of the actors bumps into one of the walls of the set, and though it is suppose to be a solid wall, the wall wobbles?

Really?  That's actually kind of cool... I mean, sure the movie wasn't the best, but many people can say they actually know SOMEONE who direct a movie that you can see (well, sorta) at video stores?

If you see him, ask him if he liked MST3K's treatment of the film (unless of course, you think that'll p**s him off, then don't ask...)

Goofs you see a lot...

Movies that supposedly take place in America have a bunch of cars with Canadian licenses plates.  :)

Rocks are usually big for goofs, especially falling rocks.  Often you seem them "bounce" unrealistically off objects, almost as though they're made of plastic or something...

But to move on to specifics goofs... in the original Dawn of the Dead, there's a scene with Steven (flyboy) is in the main monitor room for the first time and some guy can be seen in the mirror walking around in the background.  Steven completely ignores it, and it's never brought up again.  (And this is BEFORE he encounters the dead janitor.)

Another good one, after the bikers invade the mall, one of them knocks a tepee over and a "dead" female zombie who's lying on the ground suddenly raises her arms as the tepee is about to fall on her.

A goof from the great Enter The Dragon ~ when Geoffrey Weeks screens the film for Bruce Lee showing him where he's going and who he's up against, the shadow of the 16mm reels shows no film in them.  :teddyr:

Yeah, I think I noticed that a few times in the series.  People will be in a room with stone walls, yet someone will bump into one and you can see it wobble.  At one point, there's a very short scene in the old house, and the stairway is missing  :teddyr:  Must not have gotten the set fully assembled before that scene was filmed.

One of my other favorites in when Dr. Julia Hoffman is talking to Nicolas Blair about the hand of Count Petofi.  But she flubs her line and asks him about "the book".  "The book?"  he responds, "You mean the hand?"

The tremendously crappy film Law-Abiding Citizen had a scene where Jamie Foxx punches the bad guy, bloodying up his mouth.  A scene or two later, and the bad guy has no blood on him at all.  Careless, careless...

The guy who gets his head crushed by Jason in F13 Part 3, shooting his eyeball out of his head, is one of the more poorly done effects I've ever seen; it's an obvious dummy and the eyeball comes out on a wire.  It also looks like paper or something coming out of the socket.

One of the most awesome goofs is the falling body in Dr. Butcher, MD.  When it hits the ground, its arm comes off!  :teddyr:

This has been bugging me for a week now:  In Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, his nose is only as bright as, say, a 200 watt light bulb.  How in the world is that going to help Santa navigate through the blizzard of the century?

during the time warp, when Columbia does her tap dancing, the red carpet disappears then reappears.
