Have you ever heard a song and thought either;
A.) The person singing was another artist than what they were.
B.) The person singing was a different demographic than what they were (race, gender, etc)
One person comes immediately to mind...I honestly thought the inspiration for Rick Roll was a black guy when I was a kid until I saw his picture one day.

I was a bit surprised to say the least.
The first few times I heard "The Way You Make Me Feel" on the radio, I assumed it was a woman. At some point, I finally heard it announced as Michael Jackson. I mean, he always had a high voice, but I don't know if I'd ever heard it sound that feminine before.
On mistaking white guys for black guys, for years I assumed the voice of Bill, etc. on Schoolhouse Rock was a black guy. Not sure when I finally saw a picture of Jack Sheldon, but it was not what I expected. Of course, to look at him, the voice fits the face perfectly, but I just thought he sounded black.

For those who don't know him, Sheldon's in the middle.
"Hot Child In The City" being sung by a guy. THAT'S A GUY???
A woman named Charlie, singing "Pilot Of The Airwaves". Chuck the chick!
The song Automatic I didn't even know was sung by the Pointer Sisters until like 5 years ago. I thought it was a band like Debarge or something with a guy singing.

Well, it's probably not good to admit this, but I was surprised to find that TV on the Radio (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TV_on_the_Radio) is almost entirely black.
Not that it makes a difference, and they are probably my favorite new band, it's just something I wouldn't have expected.
I have a hard enough time with Elvis Costello, Elvin Bishop, Elton John, Dr. John, Dr. Hook, John Lee Hooker, David Lee Roth, and Basil Rathbone.

Hey DarkSider, isn't this guy Rick Astley? He has a great voice but a "Howdy Doody" face. :teddyr:
