Here's another 80's film that hasn't aged too well, but still manages to entertain in many different ways. Tom Selleck plays a police sergeant in a new police department dealing with haywire robots, in a semi-futuristic LA. Gene Simmons, of all people, plays the man Selleck pursues, a sadistic genius who creates and programs machines that kill.
This movie is very, VERY 80's, and if you can get past that part, you're in for a good, if somewhat forgettable experience. Joey Cramer, the kid from Flight of The Navigator, makes an appearance as Selleck's son as well. Jerry Goldsmith did the score, but it's entirely in synth. I love Jerry Goldsmith's work, but when it comes to synth music, he was no Vangelis.
Also, this movie probably has the most ludicrous, and unintentionally funny end credit sequence that I have seen in a long time.
It's been a long time since I've seen this movie. Should probably put it on my "to see" list. I remember thinking that the spider bots looked like something out of a robot toy line that was popular at the times. (Zoids, Bots, something like that).
hehe... this would be a good movie to remake... (if they used the robots from I,Robot)
I did like the heat seeking bullets... :)
Although, the spider robots looked fragile.
You failed to mention that this film was written and directed by Michael Chrichton. It also features Kirstie Alley.
I really like this one, my favorite Tom Selleck movie.
