This isn't really a terrible movie. However, it is one of those movies that I can't figure out why was made. I'm not really sure who the target audience was or what the point of the movie was. It's just sort of mediocre and dull.
Jackie Mason plays Roger Pitman, a small-time loser who makes a living by tipping off the police and setting up local crooks to be arrested. He ends up stealing $7,500 of police "bait" money and running off to Florida.
The movie has humorous moments, but isn't quite a comedy . . . nor is it quite a drama . . . nor is it quite a crime thriller. I'm not sure what it is, but it was directed by John G. Avildsen (of ROCKY fame) and you can find it in Mill Creek's Suspense Classics 50 Movie Pack if you're interested.
One reviewer at IMDB called it a Slow Pathos masquerading as a comedy.

I believe that is an accurate comment!
