For me, I remember buying Kiss's Gene Simmons solo album. I'm pretty sure it was in the late '70s.I didn't like it too much, but I picked it up because I thought the cover looked cool. So guys, can you remember your first album purchase?
It was either "Appetite For Destruction" on CD or Iron Maiden's "Killers" on LP.
The only album I've ever bought for myself is the soundtrack to Radioactive Dreams. First and only album I've gotten as a gift, however, was the soundtrack to Pulp Fiction.
The first album I BOUGHT I think was "Goofy Gold" back in 1979 or so. It had a bunch of novelty songs on it like "Transfusion" and "Monster Mash", and it also came with a lame "Sounds Of Horror" LP with "scary" sounds of rattling chains, creaking doors, etc.

American Woman by The Guess Who. Bought it in 1970...I had just turned 12.
Van Halen "1984"
Sadly, I believe the first albums I bought (both on the same day, by the way) were:
* THE RISE AND FALL OF THE GREAT SOCIETY (a comedy album by obscure comic Charlie Manna)
* An album that contained recordings of American astronauts talking. I think it was called FROM THE EARTH TO THE MOON or something like that. I was a big astronaut fan when I was a kid.
Yep. Hall & Oates~ voices(1980).. I was 10 and I used bday money. I still have the album.
If you mean lp album it would be the Grease 2 soundtrack. (Sad, I know.) In terms of album in general (CD) it would be the Stray Cats Greatest Hits.
elvis presley ... no joke in 1977 I was 4 yrs old, I loved it! My grandmom got me into it LOL!
Nowdays I like hardcore black metal and hardcore gansta rap. go figure ...
I remember buying my first album, back around '93 or so, at the age of 9. It was with birthday money, and it was the album Alapalooza, by "Weird Al" Yankovic.
I had gotten albums before, but never bought them, as they were all purchased by relatives for birthdays and Christmas. That was the first one where I went out with money I was given and picked it up myself. Still have it, too.

Funny, that was probably somewhere in the first 5 or 10 albums I bought.
Though I owned a lot of records that were my brother's, my cousin's, my mother's, and even a few that were gifts to me, the first record album that I ever bought was ELTON JOHN Don't Shoot Me, I'm Only The Piano Player

Had to save for a while to come up with the $4.99 for an LP. :teddyr:

Oh, God, that's the first album I got with my own money, too! Karma!
