Been in the hospital since Tuesday. Just got home. I had a cardiac catheterization (loads of fun). So, within the past month I found out I have diabetes and high cholesterol and have taken a small heart attack. Next, I'll probably be struck by lightning.
DAMN MAN! :buggedout:
Holy crap dude! :buggedout:
Glad that you're back home and I hope you're doing okay. My dad told me the other week that he'd suffered one (his dad had died about 2 months ago too). I'd noticed that he was being super nice and is now wanting to spend more time with me. He's really trying to cut his cholesterol and make the most of life.
Best wishes Burgo.
Wow. :buggedout:
Glad you're OK. Those hospitals aren't fun, are they?
Wow, sorry to hear that Burgo. Glad you're out of the hospital! Good luck and stay healthy my friend.
Scary news. :buggedout: The husband of a friend of mine had a heart attack last week too. Worrisome. Glad you're well enough to be home. Now: take care and stay healthy!
That's terrible, Burgomaster. Hope you are recuperating nicely and quickly.
I'd just like to say that I'm sorry to hear about that.
Sorry to hear that! Hope your feeling better, those suckers hurt! (or so I'm told!)
Im so sorry. Im glad you are home.. take care
Burgo, I'm sorry to hear that, but you're back to post, and that is what matters.
Heal up and the Thickburgers and Krispy Kremes are on me, my friend!
You DO know I'm kidding...right?
Yikes. That's terrible. How are you coping? The physical pain is certainly serious, but people often forget what an emotional kick in the head a heart attack can be. Hope you're getting lots of moral support at home.
Burgo, I am glad that you are home and OK. My best to you, brother.
So sorry to hear that.
While I've yet to experience it, I'm sure I'm looking at one in the near future. My dad, his dad, I believe my other grandfather all had one, plus all suffered diabetes and drinking problems, all of which apparently are genetic. I've had some chest pains over the past two years and have anger issues.
I'm hoping to avoid a heart attack.
It's all of those horrible movies and DVD's you've been buying and watching over the years.
They can be hazardous to your health!
All kidding aside, I hope you get well soon.
Time for a lifestyle change.
Good to hear you're okay now.. please, please take care of yourself. There's too many bad movies out there to see before you go.
Sorry to hear about your poor health, Burgo. Glad you're home and on the mend, though. Do what it takes to get healthy.
I know you are aware how treatable your condition has been and is. I imagine that you will take advice to modify behaviors, and you will enjoy a long bright future.
Sorry to hear that Burgo. Hope you'll feel better. Take care of yourself. Loads of bad movies out there to catch yet.

Like I said in the email I sent, please take care of yourself and be well, Burgo.
PS: Hope this makes you smile: when I said "Be well", I was not referring to
Demolition Man and the 3 seashells. :teddyr:
It's nice to hear that you're okay.
My grandfather had a heart attack...maybe not even once. But he's with us.
Anyway, I hope you'll get out of the hospital quick!
I appreciate all your support! Luckily, the heart attack wasn't too severe and I'll be back to work on Monday. But I need to start cardiac rehab and I'll be taking several pills every day. My advice is this: if you have chest pains, go to the hospital immediatley. I didn't know I was having a heart attack. I thought I had muscle strain in my neck and chest. It started Sunday (not very painful, just a bit of discomfort). I even went out and used the snow-blower to clear our driveway. Monday, it was a bit worse, but I went to work. Monday night it was terrible . . . I laid awake in bed for 3 hours in the middle of the night. Tuesday morning I took some Motrin and the pain disappeared. BY COINCIDENCE I had a doctor's appointment on Tuesday and I casually mentioned that I thought I pulled some muscles in my chest. The doctor took a few tests "just to be safe." A couple hours later, she called me at work and told me to go to the nearest emergency room immediately. First thing Wednesday morning, I was having a cardiac catheterization. If I didn't have a doctor's appointment already scheduled for Tuesday, I probably would have gone about my normal routine for several days and then had another heart attack.
Glad to hear you're OK! No more snowblowing while having a heart attack! Stay well!
Thats rough, take it easy and get better!
Wow, so sorry to hear about that, but so glad you're OK! Take care of yourself.
Good too here your home and well my friend.
Oddly enough, I have a craving for a pork sandwich with extra salt.
Trevor - I didn't get you e-mail. I recently changed my e-mail address and the one in my profile was the old one. But I appreciate the fact that you sent me one!
Hey man, get over it!! Just kidding, take care and adjust your life style accordingly.
Three of my older brothers had major heart attacks before age 50, one actually dropped dead and one was in a coma for 4 days and afterwards was put on a transplante list. The other had by pass surgery. The one difference between me and them was that they had all smoked for over 30 years.
I went when I was 45 and had a heart CT (it's very rapid CT that takes the pictures while you heart is beating then combines them in the computer) anyway it can find hard plaques in your Coronary arteries. It gives you a score (mine was low ). But my doctor put me on a statin drug because they can actually flush some of these plaques out. I haven't had another one, but I get lipids checked every six months. My overall cholesterol stays about 150.
If you have a family history, this is a good test for finding out if you're headed for an attack.

I wonder if I should. I believe there's history on my father's side. However, I'm about to turn 26 so I dunno if I should be checking it just yet. But, I figure since the rest of my body is seemingly falling apart, I might as well.
Speedy recovery to you, Burgo!

No problem, I was wondering why it bounced back and hit me in ze head.. Take care, Brother Burgo.
same as everyone else, sorry to hear that...hope its not that serious
I had a chest pain scare this week, so I can REALLY empahize. Get well man.
Having survived two strokes, I know how important it is to take care of you heart and circulatory system. Do whatever it takes to recover from this and prevent another from happening. Contract out someone to yell at kids to get off your lawn and other things to reduce stress. Also stick with any diet they put you on as much as possible. Yeah they often are bland and sort of suck. However gotta ask yourself would you rather be around eating bland foods for many years to come or check out of the world all too soon. Best of luck and I hope you have a full recovery from this.
Sorry to hear about that. I thought I had one, went to the hospital and they could not find out what happened. I spent a night in the hospital emergency room and could not sleep (except for about thirty minutes before the ER nurse came to wake me up because my heart beats dropped real low). I heard interesting conversations among women having abortions. WOWOWOWOW that was very strange and discusting. I am glad to hear that you are doing better.
Later,
John
