Title: THE SILENT PARTNER (1978)

This is one of my favorite "sleeper" thrillers.  I just bought the DVD and wacthed it last night.  I probably hadn't seen this movie in 20 years.

Elliot Gould plays a Toronto bank teller who keeps some money for himself when psychotic thief Christopher Plummer robs Gould's bank dressed as Santa Claus.  Plummer discovers Gould's scam and starts a game of cat and mouse in an attempt to get the money.  Gould can't go to the police because he would have to admit he stole some of the money (and is therefore Plummer's "silent partner").

There's some surprising violence (including a decapitation with a piece of broken glass) and the movie never becomes dull.  This movie co-stars Susannah York and a young John Candy (with a dreadful 1970s haircut) as bank employees.

I sneaked in to see this when I was eleven and had to ask my parents the meaning of the line "Give me the money, f****r!"

I got my explanation and a clout around the earhole.  :buggedout: :buggedout:

I just noticed the DVD box misspelled Susannah York as "Suzanne York."
