I remember seeing the original HOUSE ON SORORITY ROW back in the 1980's, but I don't remember a lot about it. I saw this remake out on video last week and decided to give it a watch, and I must say, it was quite impressive - the most fun recent slasher flick since HATCHET.
A sorority member named Megan schemes with her friends to get even with her boyfriend for cheating by letting him think she had died of an overdose. Her friends play along and work the young man into a frenzy when they persuade him the "body" must be dumped in a quarry to avoid having their house shut down by the authorities. But in a horrible twist, the grief-stricken young man winds up killing his girlfriend, who was only shamming till then!
Now it's six months later, and the sisters are all set to graduate. One last party in the house - but who is the mysterious hooded figure lurking about? And why is everyone who knew anything about the mysterious death of Megan suddenly turning up dead?
This was a surprisingly good, original slasher with all the requisite elements - goofy guys, conniving females, occasional nudity, and spectacular kills, with just enough comic relief thrown in to keep it from becoming too depressing.
A nice way to spend an evening.
Now I'm gonna go watch this weekend's slasher flick!
I'll probably rent that
