It played every year on public access tv around Christmas time. It seemed like it was either from the late 70's or early 80's. Very cheaply made.
It was about a kid who wanted to sing like Mario Lanza. He sang in church, and his priest was the only one who thought he should keep singing. His father was very against becoming a singer, and thought he should do something more practical. He was bullied by other kids. One time when he went to a soda shop with a girl who liked him, some kids came in and made fun of him. He ran out into the street and got hit by a car and went into a coma. After that, the priest died, and I can't remember what else happened, but I'm sure he became a singer.
I think it was a short movie, maybe an hour long or less. Any help would be appreciated. I can't find it online anywhere.
