What are your favorite kid songs whether it be from TV or other means. Heres some of my favs;
Mister Rogers was a great man. Its a travesty his show isn't on nowadays as much as it was when I was a kid. I really would have loved to have sat down and had a conversation with him.

Meanwhile in the "I HATE" department...I can't stand the Wonder Pets theme song...

I'd say half their albums are for adults, but they put out quite a bit of kids albums, too.

I'm not a subscriber to the apparent marijuana subtext, I just think it's a really sad song.
There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly is a favorite of mine.

Wow... I remember seeing an interview with that boy, later on in life. Rewatching that clip just now almost made me cry... (And I'm sitting in the middle of the public library no less.)
Anyway, I've always been fond of Billy the Squid by Tom Chapin. I had this casette tape and I would listen to it non-stop...

Yes, I'm
that cool. :teddyr:
Having listened to a lot of children's music over the past few years, I'm surprised at how good some of it is.
Raffi, for instance. Five years ago, I would have laughed if anyone said I'd like Raffi, but he's a lot of fun. There's a cleverness to his songs, loads of variety in subjects and styles, and the musical arrangements are really good.
Bananaphone is catchy, it's funny, and I like the arrangement.

And Raffi's cover of Octopus' Garden, which builds up to a full-blown Dixieland rendition.

I'd also like to add Sharon, Lois and Bram, but I can't find some of their best songs on YouTube. Among many other things I liked, they did a really upbeat klezmer version of Old King Cole that switched to Yiddish for the last part. I've listened to that even when the kid isn't around.
Also, Mandy Patinkin's album, Kidults, is amazing. Can't find anything from that on YouTube either, but he does a verson of A Tisket a Tasket that gets all "Dragnet" over the missing basket, and a medley from the Wizard of Oz in which he sings the parts of the Tin Man, the Scarecrow, the Lion and Dorothy in character. But the best is Patinkin's rendition of Singin' in the Bathtub. It's hilarious.
If it weren't for kids we'd never have Sponge Bob or Kylie Minogue "teaming up" with the Wiggles.

Me too. Or third... or whatever.
My niece and nephew (stepbro's kids) love this show on Disney Phineas and Ferb, and I have to say, they've got a lot of good music.

I don't like THIS OLD MAN. All that stuff about playing knick-knack on my thumb and all that knick-knack paddywhack stuff . . . gives me the creeps.
..not to mention he gave a dog a 'bone'! SICK M.F.!!!

Well, it did inspire my favourite Far Side cartoon. An old lady shouts up the hill behind her house "Knick knack paddy whack, give a dog a bone!" Then in the next frame, her husband comes tumbling down to her. :bouncegiggle:
I love this:

There use to be show called Square One TV back when kids show actually tried to make kids smart. But it had some great songs in it. I loved this show and its begging for a modern version.

As for dislike-I don't the hokey pokey, or the chicken dance song. Just never got the urge to dance to them. And I think their stupid songs to begin with.

They seemed to be channeling Oingo Boingo there quite nicely. I use to watch this show religiously although I hated math and still do. The songs did make it great. My favorite was a Blue Brothers take off where they were singing about Square Numbers. Alas I can't find it on YouTube. However, these are just as great.
