We always have a section deicated to latest ground breaking news that happen outside of where we live... most of the time. Why not bring up some cool news stories from our local areas?
Here's one from my area: My high school's girl basketball team is going to the state tournment! Hooray! I take offensive to those comments about our fans. Apparently, we were the bad ones, when really it was the Marion side was really the mean and harsh ones.

Poplar Bluff brothers go into cardiac arrest at same timeQuotePOPLAR BLUFF, MO (AP) -- When Crocket Lacy went into cardiac arrest, he was lucky his brother, Ronnie, was there.
Then Ronnie had his own heart attack. Both men were taken to a Poplar Bluff hospital emergency room, where both of their hearts stopped virtually simultaneously.
Both were saved, but doctors are still amazed at the coincidence of two brothers going "code blue" at the same time.
The Poplar Bluff Daily American Republic reported that on March 3, Crocket called his 48-year-old brother, saying he didn't feel well. Soon after Ronnie arrived at Crocket's home, Crocket coded for the first time.
At the ER, Ronnie suffered a heart attack even as Crocket was being treated for his.
Ronnie had triple-bypass surgery and is feeling better. Crocket's condition was more serious but he is improving

There was some sort of problem with an overpass on the Interstate last night. They wouldn't let anyone pass underneath it, and I was stopped in traffic for almost an hour before they finally directed us to turn around and exit using the on ramp. Tried to find a story on what happened on the news today but came up blank.

QuoteA Winona man ripped a toilet from his floor and used it to threaten police Sunday, just hours after being released from the hospital for erratic behavior, police said.
Scott Mark Halverson, 50, was covered in cuts and wielding the commode over his head when police broke into his bathroom at 10:22 p.m. in the 600 block of East Wabasha Street, according to reports made available Tuesday.
Halverson had holed up in the bathroom with a knife while water spewed from the broken plumbing, Sgt. Chris Nelson said.
Theres a local ordinance against dangerous pets such as certain snakes being considered.
QuoteThe ordinance prohibits the sale, housing and possession of dangerous animals, such as alligators, crocodiles, venomous snakes, non-domesticated snakes, monkeys, chimpanzees, and venomous insects. Violators will be fined $500 for each incident and for each dangerous animal.
I'm all for this seeing some local idiot lost his Burmese python about two miles from my house. Just around the time I had a brand new baby in the house too. Some animals simply shouldn't be pets.

This dude used to live around the corner from me. He ran a daycare. Apparently, he molested something like, 60 or more of the kids in his 'care', and had MORE than 1.2 MILLION pictures and videos of the assaults on his computer. One such assault was him having anal sex with a 4 month old.
Dude's balls should've been chopped off and then killed if you ask me, instead of just prison. But, he's never getting out and they don't like kid molesters in jail.
