I saw a movie about witches a long time ago that was probably a 60's movie but maybe a 70's. The main scene I remember was when they tested the witches with drowning they used a catapult looking contraption with a basket ont the end for the witch to be locked in. Then they lowered the basket into the water. If anyone has any idea of the title of this movie, I'd really appreciate it. I doubt that it is on dvd but I'd really like to see it again.
I think that this might be "Witchfinder General" (1968). If one of the other old horror buffs sees the thread, I'm sure they could confirm or deny. Unfortunately, I do not have a copy in my collection to verify - and it has been a very long time since I saw the film.
I agree with Andrew....haven't seen it in a long time either.....

I checked out The Witchfinders General and that is not it. I was hoping, though. The movie I'm looking for I believe is not as well made as this one. I will now try and check out the Christopher Lee movie to see if that's the one. But thanks for the tip on The Witchfinders General. It is a similar type movie.
THE SHE-BEAST with Barbara Steele starts out with a contraption like you are describing.
i think there's a scene like that in the dunwich horror, too,i'll dig it out and check....
Gerry, Thanks for trying but that one is not it. 316Zombie- I can't find any internet video or screen shots of the Dunwich Horror so I can't tell if that is the one. Please keep trying to find out more about the movie. Thanks to both.
try it on youtube with "superstition 1982" ;)
