As I did for our mom figure Newt, I do the same for Andrew, our father figure here.
I hope I don't embarrass you, Andrew but the main point is that we, the members of this site owe you a debt that we cannot repay. The site that you've created is a home for all us bad movie lunatics and speaking for myself as someone who has problems and serious issues, this place is a haven of peace most times. In fact, every time.
A haven of peace and tranquility like Shangri La that is, until I whip my undies out and everyone faints. :buggedout: :buggedout:
I have had my work published thanks to you and I have also gained a family from all over the world. I have a place where I can calmly sit and let the world rush by, while I chat with all my gas mask wearing friends. NB: Gas masks are essential when communicating with me. :buggedout: :buggedout:
Thank you and bless you, sir for creating this wonderful site and for giving me this wonderful family. *HUG*
I've said it before and I'll say it again, Andrew is a true force for good in this world. Every time I think my schedule is too busy, I look at what Andrew has managed to do so far during his time on Earth. Not only is he an active marine, not only has he managed such programs as "Toys-for-Tots," not only has he started and maintained one of the greatest sites on the internet, but he has managed to do all this while still finding time to raise a family and, on top of all that, remain a level-headed and friendly human being.
Sure he got twisted somewhere along the way and ended up doomed to watch some of the worst movies ever made, but everybody's got their foibles.
If true leadership is by example, Andrew is one of the original molds.
Also, his reviews make me laugh like a motherf**ker. Try as you might, that's something that can't be faked.

I have personal experience of that. He comes across as a genuinely friendly and warm person. Having said that, I wouldn't want to anger or remotely irritate him in any way at all because that would then buy me the whole can of whoop ass. :buggedout:

I'd be very proud to have Newt as my mum.
Anyway...
We all owe Andrew our friendship as this site has brought us all together ! I've met so many good, kind people thanks to that guy and for that I'm always grateful.
He's also a pretty good writer too (he should get the reviews on this site published) !

I made a thread concerning that about a year or so ago: I called it "The Badmovies.org Book: "We See Weird Sh*t" :buggedout: and suggested that in addition to Andrew's reviews, we each submit a review or two.
My sincerest thanks to Andrew  Great site, great reviews, and your forum is full of the nicest and most mature people on the net :teddyr: I have tremendous respect for you personally. Anyone who would go to Iraq - where people might shoot at you - all I can say is wow. I get stressed out when the Visa card bill arrives each month :bouncegiggle:
Many thanks Andrew!
Long overdue!!
All our best to Andrew, the best Marine Corps Bad Movie Webmaster in history!
Thank you all. The forum has always been blessed with people who are friendly and knowledgeable, and who far outnumber those who aren't. That makes keeping the peace much, much, much easier. I don't actively post as much because I hate only writing short replies all the time, but I read a lot of the threads - so I get to know everyone. I am thankful to know such a great group of people.
I wish my schedule wasn't so busy these days, because I end up spending most of the time I have for the site just doing the basics, like maintaining the server, writing, and answering emails (and I'm constantly falling behind on the third). At least there are only a few more years to hold on until I retire, and by then the children will be older as well. It will not be the same amount of free time as when I was a young corporal, and it was just Katie and I, but there should be a lot more free time to chat.
Andrew has helped me get my Bad Movies spirit up!
It takes a truly exceptional person to make a site as truly exceptional as this one is! Your reviews are phenomenal and the community you have achieved is outstanding. Thank you, Andrew.
I am grateful to Andrew for his patience with me each time I've fallen on my face, and for this wonderful forum, populated by the coolest people on the planet.
This place rules, thanks Andrew!
I agree, Andrew is a man I like and trust. A fine fellow and excellent guide in the bad film world. I wouldn't know a 10th as much as I do without his site.
-Ed
Someday I hope to go to b-fest and see you riff on movies!
Andrew brought us this web site and that is awesome.
But the miracle that he made happen was creating an internet forum that is not over-run with spammers, a-holes, know-it-alls, flamers, back-biters and whine-bags. Okay, I whine a little, but for this forum, my good people, Andrew should be given a national award!!
Andrew is simply astounding. I have no words to express my admiration for him.
In addition to the many hours of entertainment and thought provoking discussions this website has provided me with, it's also responsible for my computer literacy ,such as it is, Andrew I thank you for that, you are a great example of what a person should be.
Andrew and his terrific site introduced me to The Polonia Brothers.
Even now that thought makes my eyes tear up a bit...and me throw up in my mouth a little.
Thanks!
I love Andrews's reviews! Funny as all Hell! To me nothing beats The Giant Claw review. I laughed so hard, I cried the first time I read it!
We all have Andrew to thank for letting us play here. :teddyr:
Andrew is ok I guess.... :bouncegiggle:
Actually he's a great guy and a person I'm proud to call "friend". I just regret that I haven't met him face to face.
Andrew has provided a forum that allows me to interact with people who are as bizarre as I am. That's worth a big toast!
I can't keep up with every flavor of the moment newbie that comes through this ghetto of the main board
Without Andrew's reviews, I never would have become a reviewer.
That Andrew! He's a good kid. I'll definitely never be as cool as him, and I accept that.
What can I say, without him I wouldn't know the many cool people who hang out here. He keeps this place running even though he doesn't have the time to enjoy the site himself.
If it wasn't for Andrew, Wouldn't have found such a great place to gain so much knowledge of B-Movies.
This place is truly a heaven for people like me.
Andrew deserves some sort of trophy.
Thanks!
Thank you all, and keeping the site running is no sacrifice for such fine company.

I love you.*

*not as much as I love Elvira.
I'm pretty sure she has better legs than you. :teddyr:
Andrew's reviews were one of the first things I was attracted to on the web. If not for badmovies.org, I might never have come online much at all.....Eventually badmovies.org lead me to other genre sites including Scifilm.org (Andrew used to pop in over there too on occasion and I even remember us conversing even before that when I used to post at the IMDB) where I was a regular for many years until that site was turned into an archive site and now I'm a regular at badmovies.org where I probably should have been years before I was.
Andrew's review of Billy Jack led me here when I was looking for info on that film. I came, I saw, I stayed.
*Raises glass of Coke in a toast to Andrew* :drink:
I think Andrew's line about 70's porn . . . "a fuzzy python wrestling a shag carpet" - made me laugh harder than anything I've ever read online.
I've been coming to this site for longer than I can remember (then again, I do have a lousy memory) and every time I come, there's something interesting to read or watch. Its gotten me through so many long days, and I can't thank Andrew enough for what he's done here.
How could you not feel anything but appreciation for a Marine who runs a website that brings together so many different people under a common interest. And I know it's been said before-but badmovies.org is one of the friendliest message boards I know.
Yeah and Andrew frequently makes my belly shake :bouncegiggle: with laughter with his reviews which puts him in esteemed company with John Ritter as Jack Tripper, Just For Laughs Gags, Fawlty Towers, Red Dwarf, Mr. Lobo and Rik Mayall & Adrian Edmonson.
Had Andrew never created this site, I would've never learned to appreciate the work of such directors like Ed Wood, John Carl Buechler, Charles Band, the list goes on. The reviews and interviews on Badmovies.org always kept me interested and I always came back for more.
God bless you Andrew, you are the best.
Without Andrew, we wouldn't have "appreciation" threads.

A bump for this thread as Andrew, his site and the family I have here have brought me through a year which has had more than its' fair share of ups and downs for me: thank you once again for this wonderful site and this wonderful family.

I've got a few forums I like to visit: Atariage, Nevadagoldsports, and this one. I criminally neglect the other ones but I'm somehow drawn to this one.

I always found Andrew's reviews enjoyable in general. The review format on this site is concise and well organized, with the character introductions, relatively brief commentary, various highlights, silly dialogue, images and so forth. Very readable, whether you want to sit down and enjoy the whole thing or just give it a quick browse. Also easy to go back and find specific information.
This board is also the only one I've joined on any topic that has been consistently worth reading and posting on.
The 1st review i read here about 8 years ago was for Dolemite and Andrews review had me in tears. Thanks for an amazing site and for your service for America
I'm bumping this thread as I haven't seen any posts by Andrew on the board for quite a while. :bluesad:
Andrew is kind of the invisible presence on this board. No small feat, since he is the reason that this board exists in the first place. In fact, the continual existence of this website is due to Andrew's dedication to what is a labor of love. I wouldn't ever try to hide my admiration of Gunnery Sergeant Borntreger. When I think my life is getting a little bit busy and hectic, I can always look back to all the actual projects he works on and accomplishes every day.
Badmovies.org is a side project for Mr. Borntreger, and I think it is a testament that it has managed to become one of the finest collection of cinematic minds on the internet. The fact that he keeps this webpage alive in the midst of what is a very busy life, I can only applaud that and wonder what reserves he's working on to make that happen.
Then again, the things his brain puts down in writing make me laugh. Oh, I admire his work ethic, but I come back because he makes me laugh out loud.
You can't fake that.
I'm sorry for being scarce, and much appreciate the kind words here.
Between work and family I'm usually so busy that just doing the site admin (server side stuff) takes up my available time. Well, along with email, though I'm not even keeping up with answering half of them lately.
It didn't help that Garrett was sick last week, I shoved snow from 0630 to 1600 last Thursday, and then Garrett woke us up at 0500 on Friday with jellied blood and mucus coming from his nose, mouth, and ear. Actually, Katie woke me up when she was woken by the little one and saw him clearly.
He's fine now. He had a quiet little sinus infection that didn't show symptoms besides a low fever and sleeping more than normal. When his eardrum ruptured from the pressure everything drained (the vacuum holding it all in was gone). Hence, he looked like something out of a horror film. He's on antibiotics and already acting like a normal 3 year old.
I am working on a review for "Mega Piranha." Hopefully I'll be able to finish it this week!
Isn't parenthood FUN??????? :teddyr:
My kids somehow signed up for the Ear Infection of the Month Club when they were little. Their eardrums are all scarred up to this day from rupturing so many times. But there is NOTHING in the world like seeing your toddler sneeze and watching bloody snot spurt from both nostrils AND both ears!
So glad those days are past!

A bump for the man's birthday!
Three cheers for Andrew, the stern Father Figure of our dysfunctional internet family!!!
And an encouragement to those who want to write well. His sense of humor make even the most rotten flick he reviews redeeming in one way. We get a laugh from it!
Thanks again to everyone. I'm much happier these days now that I can spend more time around here.
