Title: Movies That Reference Other Movies
Post by: Mr. DS on June 05, 2010, 07:11:32 PM
Leaving out parody films like Spaceballs and Scary Movie, I'm wondering how many movie moments we can come up with that reference another movie.   Theres a ton of these out there.  Star Wars seems to get referenced a lot.

Toy Story 2 Buzz and Zurg have the whole "I am your father" conversation.

Austin Powers 2, Dr. Evil have the same above conversation.

This is the basis of Quentin Tarantino's whole career, isn't it?  :teddyr:

In Toy Story 2 they reference Jurassic Park when Rex is chasing the toy car.

Waynes World 2 reference Jurassic Park when they are scouting out the playing field for the concert.  They also reference The Graduate at the end.

I don't remember the reference, but somehow I suspect it has to do with the "getting into tense situations" line from Repo Man. Am I right?

In Bride of Chucky we see Jason's and Micheal Myers' masks in a police evidence lock, Chucky refences a lot of other horror films.

Zoolander refences a lot of stuff, but my most favourite is the X-Files reference, which is displayed by David Duchovny :buggedout:

I was watching The Devil's Curse last night.  A guy is trying to use his cell phone, and he puts on a Scottish accent and says "I can'na get a signal captain!", imitating Scotty from Star Trek.

Shrek 2 references Flashdance when Puss In Boots sits on a chair, pulls a string and gets doused with water during the final number.

Pixar not only references other films. It references its own films. The Pizza Planet truck from "Toy Story" is seen, I believe, in "Cars," Finding Nemo," "Monsters, inc.," and "Up" among others.
