I'd like to see Robot Monster remade, and stare at the beauty of thousands of CGI bubbles :bouncegiggle:
Remakes blow (yeah, yeah, cliche, I know), but I'd like to see Scream (1981) redone. Maybe it'd make a little more sense.
I think it is about time for a Ator remake, and might I suggested Miles O'Keeffe as the lead, yes?
Your avatar made me think how cool the original Phantasm would be, if it were remade. Maybe it would make more sense, give more meaning to all those flying orbs and zombie dwarves.
It wasn't that bad a movie actually, but I'm surprised there's never been a WHITE ZOMBIE remake. You could do all kinds of things with the basic plot/concept. I'm surprised there aren't more voodoo zombie movies in general; or maybe it's just me that finds them kind of fascinating.
I still think PARTS: THE CLONUS HORROR has the seed for a good movie. (Yeah, I know we got THE ISLAND but they insist on pretending that wasn't a remake).
OASIS OF THE ZOMBIES. Like PARTS, cool concept, lousy execution.
Again, not a bad movie, but at some point I'm sure they'll get around to remaking (and thorougly screwing up) THE CHANGELING.
For years I wanted a remake of The Last House on the Left and we got one last year. Turned out to be quite decent too.
Deserves (?) a remake: Day of the Animals (1977). I love the original but it would be interesting to see how the story would translate these days.
I would love to see a remake of C.H.U.D., preferably with a big enough budget to have a full scale war between the surface dwellers and their erstwhile subterranean nemeses.
It's just such a strong idea, especially if you can get somebody with enough talent to provide a good tongue-in-cheek mood like RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD. Doom for everybody!
I feel stupid for saying this, but I'd like to see the old Gamera films remade, American style. Hey, if they could do a Godzilla remake, why not a Gamera one?
A remake of Forbidden World would be cool. I'd love to see the movies with todays effects and bigger budget.
Or Mirror Mirror will be great too.
But whatever they'll do, the originals is allways better. They have that atmosphere that todays directors/writers can't capture.

The Stuff. Its not a bad movie, but its ambition definitely outstripped its budget, one of the few movies that better special effects could really improve.

Speaking of that, Street Trash would also look great with a remake, and nastier effects.

But when the American version came out, it wasn't Godzilla- it was just Zilla. also, very poor CGI Godzilla.
If there's one b-movie that seriously needs to be remade, it's gotta be "Journey to the Center of Time" (1967). This boring mess needs better F/X, actors, script and, most important of all: FASTER PACING. I cannot stress that last one enough.
A part of me wants to see Basket Case get remade, another part doesn't as the awful stop motion work was part of the movies charm and hilarity. However, the concept does have a good premise for a weird big-budget movie.

NO movie deserves a remake. Despite my hardline answer, however, I'll concede to the notion that not all remakes necessarily suck, they just tend to by default.
I've heard for some time that Russell Brand is going to do a remake of Arthur. Please, no.
I feel kinda guilty for wanting to see the Re-Animator remade, but there....I said it. Cemetary Man might be interesting too.
The Killer Shrews could use a remake :bouncegiggle:

For the most part you're right, but your stance would mean a world where Carpenter's THE THING and Cronenberg's THE FLY wouldn't exist. A remake of Arthur would indeed be terrible, with or without Russell Brand.
One thing I'd love to see, and this isn't straight remake so much as an adaptation, is a decent Allan Quartermain movie.

Ah, but my stance allows for THE THING and THE FLY, both great films, while holding that most remakes are sub-par at best.
While I'm not advocating a remake, there is one movie that I'm surprised hasn't gotten a remake yet. Village of the Giatns esp since teen comedies were big a couple of years ago.
A new version of Inherit the Wind could be cool. I'm sure it would be more controversial today then it was a few decades ago.

Actually, "Inherit the Wind" has been remade three times: in 1965, 1988, and 1999. But all these were productions made for television. Only once has the play by Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee been made into a theatrical film, and that was in 1960.
Nude on the Moon. For obvious reasons. With Rose McGowan if at all possible.
I'd like to see a remake of Zardoz, even though I don't think it was a bad movie.
I'd like to see two of George Pal's movies remade: When Worlds Collide and Doc Savage.
Since Godzilla and King Kong have been remade, why not redo Reptilicus? Imagine having a giant marionette terrorizing a model town being replaced by a CGI monster destroying a CGI city with tons of explosions and shaky camera movement......
......On second thought, better leave it be.
I'd like to see a remake of London After Midnight, IN B/w, and stick strictly to the original script, no CGI.
Transformers... that deserves a RE remake lol! :twirl:
It seems sooner or later FIEND WITHOUT A FACE is going to be remade. That sounds cool to me. I can't post a link so I'll cut and paste the article.
A modern redux of the 1958 cult classic FIEND WITHOUT A FACE has been in the works for quite some time now, with filmmakers including Joe Dante, MAY's Lucky McKee and NIGHT OF THE DEMONS' Adam Gierasch involved at various stages. At this past weekend's Saturday Nightmares event in New Jersey, Fango spoke to the man now holding the project's reins: STREET TRASH writer/producer Roy Frumkes.
"I optioned the rights from [original producer] Richard Gordon, who has optioned them several times before," Frumkes tells us; he'd like to have the veteran fear filmmaker play a scientist in the film. "We've been friends for 10 years, and he brought it up one day over lunch and we reached an agreement. Then I set my own deadlines: The option started January 1, and I gave myself two months to write the first draft of the script, which is done, and one month to research it. I've wanted to do this film for 40 years, so I already had it all in my head, and it wasn't hard to write. What I didn't have was the technical information; I'm no science buff. Now I'm interviewing scientists, getting the technology straight."
I'd like to see The Alamo remade again, but this time cast with as many washed up 80's action stars as possible. Arnie could be Davey Crockett, Steven Seagal could be Col. Travis and Bruce Willis could be Jim Bowie. For hyper-cheesiness they would cast Dolph Lundgren as General Santa Anna. Sly Stallone could be a time traveling John Spartan, dropped into the middle of things by a short circuiting cryogenics machine and Chuck Norris could play Jebidiah Walker, great grandfather of Walker, Texas Ranger.
They could call it something like Alamo 2: Fresh Out of Ideas.
Cool As Ice :bouncegiggle:

now, 99 out of 100, chances are that it's going to be CGI :bluesad: the Original was stop motion, you can't do better than stop motion- KING KONG, 20 Mil. miles to Earth, etc.... c'mon now, why is it that all remakes from stop motion is being CGI, where's all of the creativity? ITZ CHEAP I SEYZ! :hatred:
I want to see Howling III remade. It's a horrible film, but a little nugget of its concept could work. Get rid of the marsupial thing, focus the plot, make the werewolves brutally violent but not evil, and make them as tough as the ones from the original film. And they should be the lead characters. Against werewolf hunters who are the bad guys. Sort of like the climax of Nightbreed, only an entire film of that. That'd be spiffy.
Poultrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead was bad. I think it would have been a lot better if not for the musical numbers.
I wouldn't consider these "bad" movies but I'd like to see The Deadly Mantis or Tarantula remade. We need some good old fashioned giant monster movies. These movies were made pretty cheaply and still manage to entertain. They're almost tailor made for today's market.

I would bet that Jaws will have a remake in the next 5 years.
Attack of the Mushroom People 1963, that would be a cool remake.
Btw - If Hollywood is listening, hint hint. Redo Resident Evil. Make it like the 1st game!
(http://img839.imageshack.us/img839/4104/residentevil1remakegame.jpg) (http://img839.imageshack.us/i/residentevil1remakegame.jpg/)
The story and everything else that was great about the game.
I want them to restart Ghost Rider. I know a sequal is in the works. But its still with Nicholas Cage, the story line has him in Romania(and almost completely ignoring some of the Ghost Rider mythology) and I just heard its budget has been cut.
I want to see a new version with a more suitable actor in the lead, and a real villian (instead of the pseudo Blackheart we got). Either really give us Mephesto, the real Blackheart or let us see Zadkiel.
I'm probably going to be drawn and quartered for this but...I believe that in the right hands, Suspiria could come out as an equal success. I love this movie, but it would be interesting to see what someone like, I don't know, whoever directed Session 9 or Ti West could do with it.
I also think that Uwe Boll and Michael Bay should become partners and set out to remake the worst movies together and see if they can make them any better with their gargantuan budgets (Like Nukie, Manos, Tammy and the T-Rex, Demon Island, etc.)
Quote from: WingedSerpent on October 28, 2010, 09:59:09 PM

That b***h ruined Spider-Man! :hatred:
RE: Tarantula and Mantis...would love to see a remake of both.
Hummm...did these bugs always have the munchies? Seems like in relation to the amound of bug to be fed, humans would make a paltrey snack.
"Oh, man. I just ate a bus load of humans and I need more! I have GOT to find a herd of cattle..."
Highlander II.
It completely ruined the first film and made the sequels the worst things to ever come to cinema. It felt like a big middle finger to people who like the first movie and it ruined it's cult following. Just take out the alien sh*t.

Um, where have you been for the last 18 years? It was fixed in 1994 with the Renegade Cut and the latest release has better F/X.
Not that it was bad, but I'd like to see some sort of remaked of Eraserhead.
Redneck Zombies- really should be remade. With all the massive popularity of sorts for zombies, it should be brought out.
Showgirls- Remake it, and cast Lindsay Lohan and Demi Lovato in the lead roles. It'll work.
And I recently found out that some people in Hollywood contacted Troma and are making a PG-13 version of The Toxic Avenger. :buggedout:
Master Killer
5 Deadly Venoms
The Candy Tangerine Man
Petey Wheatstraw - The Devils son in law.

Burlesque.

They wanna remake damn near EVERY other movie in existence. Why not Eraserhead?
Granted, it's perfect the way it is. Hell, I don't even need a remake. Just re-release it, as is, to today's audience. Most everyone I know has never even SEEN it, let alone heard of it. People would leave the theater in an absolute clusterf*ck of "What the hell was that?"
