(David Schmoeller, 1986)
Klaus Kinski plays an old ex-nazi doctor addicted to killing, or something, who is now a landlord crawling around in the crawlspace of his house, terrorising his young female tenants....
Yeah, that's the plot.
This movie is great. The idea is cool and there was never a cooler actor than Klaus Kinski, who is perfect as the crazy German..
Anyone seen it?
You betcha.

Oh, I like your reviews I actually read that one a while back :)
I read your "Zombie Lake" review too ;)
This is one of my favorite films, especially of Kinski's. I definitely think it is one of the best from this period of his acting career. I thought he made the character of Gunther sympathetic and frightening.
By the way, Nathan, your review of "Crawlspace" is one of my favorites from your site. The line about Kinski eating a bowl of cheerios still cracks me up. How could anyone who uses the Hieratic Head of Ezra Pound not rock?

I hope we never find out.
(I tell you, though -- the Head's getting a little peeved at the costume stunts I have him do; he feels like the lesser member of a morning radio team. But then I remind him of the career prospects open to a big-ass chunk of granite with no arms or legs, and he pipes down a bit.)

I like to think that right now, Ezra Pound is chuckling somewhere. By the way, has anyone seen David Schmoeller's "Please Kill Mr. Kinski", a short film about his experience with directing Kinski in "Crawlspace"?
I want to see it really bad, but the price is a little steep at Amazon.

Adding it to the list...
Nathan
That's great! I absolutely can't wait to read your review of it Nathan. Keep up the good work.

Could be a long wait...when you realize how long Nathan's list is :)
9,000 and growing.

(I should live so long...)
Klaus Kinski is one of my favorites, I'm always looking for new films of his to add to my video collection. "Crawlspace" is a favorite of mine as well, this is Klaus Kinski is one of his craziest roles, and he just plays it to perfection. The music score by Pino Donnagio is haunting as well. Great film.
Totally agree with you John. I think "Crawlspace" is definitely one of Kinski's more underrated films, not to mention Schmoeller's. I'm surprised that it isn't more well known, since it's as good if not better that a lot of its mid-80's counterparts.
