aka dead of night.
This has a really simple plot: a guy gets killed in vietnam and returns home as a zombie. I liked it alot though.
There is a sub sub genre out there you could call the "what do I do with my zombie" genre. "Neither the sand nor the sea" is one. It's in my opinion not a very sucessful one though it does have a cult following ,Zombie Honeymoon is pretty good. The lady MARRIES a guy who is a zombie or becomes one I can't remember. This is definately one of the best ones and features premo horror stuff from the team of special effects wiz tom Savini and Bob Clark (Black Christmas) while also having some of those issues of what do we do with our loved one who is now the undead.

The guy, Andy, is awesome. He is like a cross between new wave singer Gary Numan and some kind of evil buddha. The best is when he goes out on a date wearing sunglasses and leather gloves. When he turns his head this quiet discordant piano music plays and you're like "gaaah" The directing is very good, Clark goes balls out time and again with all sorts of disturbing murders. It's one of those movies that starts of okay then gets good then gets great. They don't majorly explore the retuning vets/ ptsd syndrome stuff but that element is definately there.
You can never tell with these reissues. Sometimes they have all these accolades and good reviews and you get it and it's dull. This one is pretty nondescript looking at first but I'd say definately check it out. I'ts not like Inception or Avatar or something but for a low budget b movie it kicks serious ass. Obviously Savini and Clark would go on to do "better" movies but this will be a favorite of both of them for me.
5/5
Haha, the picture you posted looks like the guy who played Cyclops in the X-Men movies. :bouncegiggle:
it was pretty forward thinking fashion wise for 74
I'd remember renting it 20 something years ago. I've thought it was ok but I dont know why but I feel that I needed to watch it again. So I had the movie on my netflix queue for almost 2 years, your review makes me want to bump it.
:)
I had had it for a similar amount of time in mine.
I bought this DVD when it was released a few years go (thank you, Blue Underground!) A much-treasured component of my collection!
I also own this film; I think someone on this website identified the title for me (it's also known as THE NIGHT ANDY CAME HOME.) This was one of the flicks I would watch on late night horror movie programs in the 1970s that made a big impression. I highly recommend it.
