Title: darth vader!
Post by: macabre on July 25, 2010, 01:29:39 PM
hi
I am a massive collector of Star Wars memorabilia. I find the whole saga of George Lucas relentless campaign against Dave Prowse very sad,Mr Lucas has made a financial empire out of his star wars movies. Dave Prowse was wrongfully accused over 25yrs ago of leaking a key moment from Empire Strikes Back, because of this he has been humiliated a number of times from the powers that be ,now he has been banned from appearing at star wars conventions and has been warned about making any profit from his portrayal of Darth Vader. I believe his physical presence enhanced the persona of Darth Vader being a villain and i would think that George Lucas would be man enough to forget his argument with Dave Prowse and finally invite him to a Lucas arts movie convention and pay the guy the money he deserves. my question, well it,s obvious. do you side with the dark lord and think Dave Prowse deserves all he can profit from Darth Vader,or do you side with George Lucas and say stuff Dave Prowse he should have kept his mouth shut? over to you

macabre..

Prowse signed up to to empire for a share of the profits after doing it for star wars and making some money. At the time it was not so common for h'wood to cook the books so a movie never made a profit and when star wars because a blockbuster the money roared in so fast from so many sources they couldn't steal it all and the actors dot some.

With empire h'wood had it all sewed up and the people who signed for a percentage never saw a cent. Prowse has denounced lucas for that and rightly so. H'wood gets away with accouting tricks that would have anyone else in prison, then the poorhouse.

I say p**s on lucas. I'm connected at a long running local convention and am pushing to get prowse picked as out media GoH at the 2011 convention, and lucas can't do a damn thing about it.
