Below are three (3) great Party records. These are the kind of records everybody can listen to, not some hard Rock, or unusual cultural expression, or some Artsy nod... What are your three great party records?
MALCOLM McLAREN Duck Rock (http://i239.photobucket.com/albums/ff259/allhallowsday/MALCOLMMcLARENDUCKROCK.jpg)

first 3 albums that came into my mind...
Sheryl Crow - All I wanna do.

Levellers - What a Beautiful Day

Eagle Eye Cherry - Save Tonight
(http://www.avatune.com/pics/save2.jpg)
no offense Doggett but if that levellers tune came on I would have to promptly exit the party :teddyr:
(like I get invited to parties anyway, eheh)
I llike Sheryl Crow though. 'If It Makes You Happy' is another good one

I like
SHERYL CROW too, and do get invited to parties,
but usually nobody interesting turns up...which I think leads me back to my originating thought... Party records aren't so easy to identify... what might everybody like?
You are a sweetie, but, you must know that. How 'bout some
PINK?
3 non-comp albums I could enjoy anytime..
Boston's debut;

AC/DC's Back In Black;
Led Zeppelin 4;
and 3 best of's:

I hope retrorussell invites me to that party. :teddyr:

I don't think
Pink is such a bad idea.
I'm not a big fan, but I certainly don't don't mind her. Her tunes are fun enough to create a party atmosphere.
I think.
I've
never been invited to a party. :bluesad:
Assuming you're talking 'parties' were upon the music acts as sort of 'background noise' while people spend the night talking, etc, and not as a 'dancy' type party, I'd have these:
Time Flies: The Best of Huey Lewis and The News
(http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b254/mrmadcats/rolling_stones_40_licks_front.jpg)
40 Licks- The Best of The Rolling Stones
(http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a316/sarahbear13_/bestofbowie.jpg)
Best of Bowie by David Bowie
Seems like 3 odd pairings to most people, but they generally work, as there's a good helping of songs that are a bit of songs that are good 'rock out' style fast songs, and others you can kick back and have a few drinks to.

3 records for a party...
I think maybe too much Rock, not that I personally would have a problem with any of the selections, but imagine a perfect party, where the music can be listened to or ignored...
CAL TJADER Soul Sauce

You picked a few good selections in this last post. I have a few floating around in my head, but narrowing it down to 3 is a problem. Believe it or not, I like Sergio Mendes...shocking, I know. :buggedout:

I agree the
HITS are excellent (I have that one, too). But,
Look Around is probably
MENDES' finest hour, and it's pleasantly bouncy for a party-like atmosphere.

There's nothing shocking about your selections or taste.
I have the album EQUINOX by Brazil 66, it's really good
apparently they got their name because they were originally only going to do promotional music jingles for the Brazil world cup team in 1966 but then they carried on making music after. (could be wrong but I think that's right)

Settling on 'three great party records' is going to take some doing (so much depends on the type of party, doesn't it), so it may be a while before I get it together for posting. IOW: if I don't reply for a bit, it does not mean I am ignoring you. :tongueout:

Well, you're sweet; I do own those 2 on vinyl, but hardly ever listen to them - anymore. :teddyr:
Funky Favorites,
Funny Bone Favorites and
ELVIRA Haunted Hits would work best for a Halloween party...

I've been to very few parties, but here are my 3 picks:
For my purposes I'm assuming the party is very casual and very friendly yet not very wild.
For the beginning:
Out of the Blue - Electric Light Orchestra (ELO) (To get everybody in a good mood)
(http://img814.imageshack.us/img814/6522/outoftheblueelectriclig.jpg) (http://img814.imageshack.us/i/outoftheblueelectriclig.jpg/)
The Beatles (White Album) - The Beatles (I feel this album has plenty of songs with enough variety to keep the party going, without becoming monotonous.)
(http://img641.imageshack.us/img641/5434/thebeatleswhitealbumthe.jpg) (http://img641.imageshack.us/i/thebeatleswhitealbumthe.jpg/)
Big Bam Boom - Hall and Oates (When the party starts pleasantly winding down)
(http://img6.imageshack.us/img6/1205/bigbamboomhallandoates.jpg) (http://img6.imageshack.us/i/bigbamboomhallandoates.jpg/)
Elvis Presley by Elvis Presley
(http://i858.photobucket.com/albums/ab145/chadahagy/BillyJoelTheStranger.jpg)
The Stranger by Billy Joel
(http://i523.photobucket.com/albums/w356/Leopoldium/Cover-3.jpg)
Goodbye Yellow Brick Road by Elton John.
And yes...I've been to a party where all three were played. Great evening.
For a very relaxed, totally non-wild, and cheery party:
To start things off:
Greatest Hits - Lovin' Spoonful
(http://img812.imageshack.us/img812/1795/spoonful.jpg) (http://img812.imageshack.us/i/spoonful.jpg/)
For an upbeat middle of the party:
Songs from the Wood - Jethro Tull
(http://img441.imageshack.us/img441/868/songsfromthewoodjethrot.jpg) (http://img441.imageshack.us/i/songsfromthewoodjethrot.jpg/)
To end the party on a relaxing note:
The Last Waltz - The Band
(http://img828.imageshack.us/img828/1522/thelastwaltztheband.jpg) (http://img828.imageshack.us/i/thelastwaltztheband.jpg/)
Party records? :bouncegiggle:

It would be my kind of party! Also, I was thinking my albums would be good for an event which was a party celebrating something in particular. Maybe something in which the party is really more of a fun gathering.
