Does anybody besides me feel thrilled?
I have never felt anything other than boredom and annoyance when reading Cathy.
I haven't looked at that strip in years. Seemed like it was pretty much the same thing over and over. By the twentieth time Cathy went "Ack!!" over how she looked in a swimsuit, it had gotten pretty damned old.

Exactly!
I agree. Wish we could resurrect "Calvin and Hobbes" or "The Far Side" to take its place.
I heard this today on the news and said, "It was still going?" Our newspaper dropped it years ago.

Those are two of my favorite comics! You have good taste!

I'm actually rereading C&H right now. :teddyr: I read it every year or two, as I have all the books.
I can understand why Watterson quit when he did though - the strip was starting to get repetitive at times towards the end. Still, I think he should have kept it going for at least another two years, as his rather wonderful artwork was still fresh with his hardfought-for gigantic Sunday strips. Watterson should come back and just do SOMETHING public though. He said he didn't like the deadlines - fine, just do a new comic in your own time and publish it online or exclusively in book form. He still has the clout for it!
The Far Side though? I think that could be fantastic if brought back. That's another one I own all of - in those gigantic leatherbound editions. :teddyr:
Right now, the best things in our paper are DILBERT, GET FUZZY, and ZITS.

I LOVE
Dilbert and
Get Fuzzy is great! I have not read enough
Zits to really care about it, but it's good.
I also LOVE
Pearls Before Swine!
Good riddance, Cathy!
Huh? That thing still exists? It was so uninteresting that I forgot that it is still around.
