Title: I Come In Peace (1990)

Watched this flick last night after tracking down a copy.  It was a staple of HBO in the early 90s and one I watched numerous times.  I was surprised to see just how well it still held up.

The film follows Jack Caine (Dolph Lundgren), a detective who loses his partner during a herion deal.  He teams up with FBI Agent Smith (Brian Benben) to track down the killer.  This leads him to a ruthless alien drug dealer who injects his victims with herion before stabbing them in the brain and extracting a juice that is used on his planet as a recreational drug.

Oh yeah, and the bad guy shoots killer CDs from his wrist.

What could have been a hokey z-grade film is actually a decently fun buddy cop action flick.  Lundgren and Benben have some great interactions here in the film, and it really works quite well.  The alien plot is so frigging out there, that you just have to love it.

In late 80s/early 90s action flick fashion, the film has a car chase, and more than enough explosions to keep anyone interested.  And as stupid as the weapon sounds, the killer CDs are pretty badass.

Overall, seriously fun film.  It's a real shame that we don't see Lundgren or Benben acting much anymore.  This is one that has yet to hit DVD.

I remember seeing this one in the theater. It was all right, but it was kinda ruined for me in that the only reason for the title of the movie and for the alien saying to everyone "I come in peace" was to set up Lundgren's final one-liner. There was some good stuff in the movie, but that one thing made me groan enough to not really ever want to see it again. I've grown cornier over the years, though, so maybe it wouldn't seem quite as bad to me now.

"Then you go in pieces, @sshole" I think was the line.  :bouncegiggle: :bouncegiggle:

I remember watching this movie in the theater.  My girlfriend at the time wanted to get up and leave.  So I left.  I wound up watching at a later date (I am now married to a wonderful different girl) and liked it.  I was slow but fun.  I felt sorry for the Monte Carlo at the end when the sidekick gets thrown on to the roof of the car.  I would watch it again.

Later,

John

Yeah! And then Lundgren says "fu*k YOU, space man" before he does him in.  Not a great movie but noit a bad one. It was definitely an 80's oddity and a fun look back at how far movies have come (as well as how much they've stayed the same to a degree, w\ regard to cable TV movies.)

When I was a youngin my grandparents would let me rent whatever movie I wanted (except porn) and I remember renting this one night along with the Dolph Lundgren Punisher. I really enjoyed this flick, especially because that CD weapon was so friggin badass :bouncegiggle:

Ahh, the old Punisher with Dolph Lundgren. Dosen't come anywhere near the newer one, Punisher: War Zone which was absolutely psychotic (the way the Punisher should be) but it was OK.

CD weapon? I remember  the "CD Head" Cenobite in Hellraiser 3 had CD's as a weapon too.  Makes a geat slice and dice weapon, lol

Russ,

The version I watched was branded as "Dark Angel".  I believe it was a copy of the European version

It was shown as Dark Angel in South Africa too.
