"from the co creator of Halloween and the executive producer of Nightmare on Elm Street"
seriously??
I remember when Whitney Houston came out with "I will always love you " thinking, wow black people have achieved equality. they can make something as sucky and awful as any white person and sell trillions of it. Well, this is not as significant or at all significant but it is something: a gay bad horror movie. It's cheap, not scary and much of it is filmed at some Halloweeen street party. It's right up my ...aahh the type of thing I have seen alot of minus the gay. (note: if you want to see a gay movie that is scary check out the documentary "the gift" about gay guys who TRY and get AIDS)
The director said in the featurette I watched like 2 seconds of that he wanted to make a movie with something like "cool music, guys who don't take themselves to seriously" and " rockin murders" or something. The music thankfully isn't techno or disco it's half decent hard rock/ metal. Like all rote horror or disaster movies you "get to know the doomed people": one of them is sort of bisexual, one is shy, one is younger than the others and one is sort of a dumb jock. The jock guy was the funniest "I'm not a drag queen it's halloween!!". The best parts it seems sort of like a gay Dazed and Confuzed or something. One of them reminds me more than alot of my ex boss who I'm now convinced is gay. Most of the first 2/3 or more of the movie is them joking around and goofing off and not take themselves too seriously succesfully.
They are being followed by a guy in a devil costume they come to believe is the guy who decapitated two lovebirds at the local cruising spot. joke around joke around then everyone once in a while "wwwaaannn" and they focus on a the silhouette of the horns and the mysterious guy goes away. Again, It's not scary. There are a couple of murders but it kind of doesn't gel with the light comic tone of the movie. or maybe it does I don't know I'm not a movie critic.
If you are hard core horror gore person stay far away from this. There is not any intense homosexual sex just dork romance and homo machismo. I liked it.
4/5
It's less gay than Body Rock. not nearly as good as Soldier's Girl, the only other gay horror-ish movie I can think of.
I watched it once it came out, I was 13 at the time and was shocked that I rented a gay movie. I thought the video store clerks would laugh behind my back for renting it, but it's good they didn't watch it so they didn't know.
Now, looking back at it, I'd say it's a decent slasher flick.
