Title: Planet of Dinosaurs
Post by: Erik J on April 10, 2002, 02:13:55 PM
Ok, I was at Wal-Mart last night - late- and i was looking through their bin of bargain dvds and came across this one.

I read the back and knew for some reason I had to get it. DON'T ASK WHY.

Synopsis: a rwactor blows up a spaceship called Odyssey. Out of all of the people on board this space travel ship only 9 make it out on an escape shuttle. They are trying to land on a nearby planet- the gravity is pulling them in to hard and they crash in the water. They swim to shore safely- only to have a girl go back to the ship because she forgot the transponder locater(or whatever)- and she is devoured by an amphibias creature. Soon they discover what really lies on this planet-light years from home in sub-space.

I could not believe that I actually sat down and watched all 84 minutes of this. There is just no way to describe it. This one isn't even on the Badmovie site- it must be really BAD then.

Has anyone else seen it or even heard of it????

I actually have a copy of this film in my collection. The special effects, while not up to Harryhausen standard, were still incredible, and even won an award at the science fiction fantasy festival some time ago.

Yes it won the science fiction award for its impressive stop-motion animation.

I was impressed at the quality of the movie itself. On the slim budjet that it must have had they used every penny to its fullest advantage.

Of all things about this movie the ending was by far the most impressive.

Dr. Freex has a review for “Planet of the Dinosaurs” up at "The Bad Movie Report."  Go to http://www.stomptokyo.com/badmoviereport/dinoplanet.html.

There is also another review for PofD at "Cold Fusion Video Review.”  Go to http://www.coldfusionvideo.com/p/planetofdinosaurs.html

Any questions on whether or not a movie has been covered by the B-Master Cabal (of which this site is one) can be answered as this site: http://www.badmovieplanet.com/b-masters/

Now, does this mean I'm a fan of these sites, or that I have FAR too much time on my hands?

I'm not gonna tell.

I actually saw this hunka monkey in the theatres. I love the ridiculous scene in which a dinosaur (allosaurus?) is stomping away from an unsuccessful attack on the humans--and, while looking over his back, marches right into the jaws of a larger dino (T-Rex?). When people think their home movies merit theatrical release, it is time for them to be incarcerated.

FYI, sooner or later I'm gonna go back and redo a bunch of my earlier reviews (which, honestly, sucked), and PoD is at the top of the list.  (Yup, I own this puppy -- in an oversized box, no less.)
